Freelancing Smuggler ID is the image of the Mule of the Mollys/Rogues. Just a FYI on that. If you can remember the image from the pervious version, you shouldnt have any trouble. To help anyone else, ID with image of Woldhound is Freelancer Pirate ID and I already told you the Smuggler ID image. Everything else is stright-forward.
Narcotic has a point. Plus, if you do plan on having a Smuggler ID, you should go with ships that are usuals at space ports and stations, something with a cruise speed of 390-400 to escape if tailed but regular fighters. Interceptor based ships, however, may be a problem. My Smuggler Character who is Ex-Coilition is in a Camara, one of thee largest used freighters. But you also have to ensure you get friendly with unlawfulls like the Hell Legion and the Rogues since your automaticly hated by the NPC factions. Also you have to have a method of playing both sides, which can be hazardous. Smuggling has various stages of conducting a sucessfull smuggling.
Selecting a cargo to transport.
Determining the best location for the sale of the item.
Have various escape routes.
Plan how you will keep the police and such from scanning you and your cargo.
Try to avoid Starships for cargo scanner range is greater than any scanners.
Optional: If you are friendly with a faction say the Outcasts are the Hell Legionairs, you can try to call them for help then give then something in return.
After some liberty navy players got wiped out, a Hell Legionair asked for some SBs, course, allowing me to keep a gunship captain, I obliged to his request. The Hell Legion is hostile to me, but I do plan on changing that. People just think, "Oh, Im just gonna waltz up with Cardimine and sell it at Manhatten." Largest gathering point for civilian, navy and hostiles? no way are you going to get it in there without someone noticing your cargo.
May also want to try to get a freighter over a transport to start. You can outrun patrols going 400 when they can only go 350. This helps you find the lanes/routes and areas where a slower ship may have issues. The Camara is a good one to do that with.
When you can afford a heavier gunned transport, you'll know what to expect and where to run.
Sometimes, when all you want is to gain your freedom, you must be willing to risk it all.
