It says they were were Boy Scouts (despite the fact we don't exactly call them 'Boy Scouts' downunder.
It's plausible that they could have been allowed on base for some sort of function, but being able to use guns is still very unlikely.
If I'm not mistaken (could be), it's only the older cadets that get firearm training in the first place.
Though interestingly in regards to base security; I can get onto Edinburgh RAAF base with my dependent pass, as my mum works for them, despite the fact that she's not even on base, but in the DSTO building across the road. Security is tight.:smile2:
EDIT: And yeah, just did some quick research, Cosgrave never said that. Would have been a massive media stink if he had, considering he used to be Chief of the Defence Force.
I do not like our media, every few months they have something like this. it bugs me. it really does. Even better that's from a Government owned broadcaster. What a sad state of the world. As for the General i recomend you go full renegade on her.
