Are you suggesting that attackers should invest an equal amount of time and money to get rid of a base? I don't really see that working.

Let us not forget that Attackers will attack the base and it's owners + maybe some of the owner's friends... but A base won't have to Deal only with a group of attackers.

There are a whole *static* lot of possible attackers on a base, so stop complaining about bases being hard to kill...

Just because you guys are to *static* lazy to build a base, it gives you no right to pew pew like in a CS game...

I would have made the bases invulnerable on player bassed attack unless there is a RP, and since you can't rp with an empty base, a Forum declaration would work.... EX: Make a topic for that kind of action where you can write a short RP and a declaration "We will assault the x base at the x date be online or face distruction." ...


Where is the RP in attacking a base when it's defenders are offline? What happened with the deffenders of the base?


There are a lot of guys that simply can't understand that this is a RP server... And now with the bases they forgot even more about rp... Diving in to planets for teleport, docking with Zwhales in House Space, every single civilian is hunting nommies, building a base in the middle of nowhere[when a base is meant or to defend or to secure some resources in a area],all the RP went pew pew...

I love bases but I hate the fact that some players are just a bunch of Counter-Strikers seeking for mindless pvp and base explosions...

Wake up guys! We need to keep the RP alive.

Want to get rid of lwlwhat bases all around sirius? simply make it harder to build(make it to request at least 2heavy lifters and more commodities to build) Not to mention that any base should have at least some turrets to defend itself... and the platforms are like a spit in the rain, a very expensive spit....

I think we as a community need to decide whether we want
1) vulnerable bases that are intended to be pvp targets, but don't take hundreds of hours' worth of work to build; the 'expendable base'
or
2) invulnerable or nigh-invulnerable bases that take an enormous effort to construct that reflects the dedication and desire of the owners/builders to make them 'permanent'

Right now we have something of an unhappy medium.

how about more base types?

as in:

-Research facilities(like this ones that will focus more on sheilds and repair
-RP bases[expensive bases, maybe planetary ones given only by adimns for factions after some RP events]
-RPPvP bases[cheap ones, with some fighting skills only available for factions to avoid overpopulation or smthng like that]

Optimal time to destroy a fully-shielded base is probably in the range of 12-18 hours. That gives plenty of time to mount a defense, but does not not require the attackers to hold a siege for multiple days.

an update might have just happen and the base shield might not make the base invullnerable anymore.
Anyone could confirm that and update the forum to inform base owners? It sucked to watch how a base was destroyed while it shields where on... the owners will be extremely dissapointed when they will log...
