Mr. Jonathon Winchester III, Mr. Otis Jethro, and the Independent Neuralnet Division in its entirety, I write to you today with honest enthusiasm. Not enthusiasm for the past - the months we have endured during the dissolution of our previous government, and the wrongs that government visited upon your party. Not enthusiasm for our present - a terrible time where people so similar in culture and belief have been split apart. I write to you with enthusiasm for the future - a place where the wrongs you've suffered have been righted, and our nation stands strong with you and every citizen of free Sirius against those who would destroy all we hold dear.
The message I write today has been a long time coming. As Acting President of the Colonial Republic and head of the new administration that has risen to lead our nation in absence of those previously responsible, I would like to thank you for your patience in this matter. The damage wrought upon your company by the words and actions of the previous Colonial administration has weighed heavily on my mind, and it is with great relief that I find myself in the position to ensure such harm is never again visited upon you or your holdings.
I wish that I could offer you a sincere apology on behalf of the previous administration, whose actions and correspondence have so affected the state of our relations today, but both their government and their persons are conspicuous by their absence. I offer a sincere apology still - but not from a governing body. I offer it from the Republic herself, and I offer it on behalf of the citizens of my nation.
These citizens value their freedom and independence above all, and these are things we will never surrender - but I am under no illusions that we are an island. No nation stands alone, let alone one as young to Sirius as ours. With the wounds my country has suffered only beginning to heal, I know the isolation we have took comfort in for so long will only slow our recovery. I believe only through co-operation with the free people of Sirius can we look forward to a bright, thriving future. It is in the spirit of this belief that I write to you today.
I look forward to the future and hope that soon our parties will engage in renewed co-operation and dialogue - not as Colonials and Libertonians, but as free citizens of Sirius working for the benefit of us all. It is with honest enthusiasm that I endeavor to bring that future as close as I can.
