Guten tag Herr Pearl!
My name is Amalia Zapp, currently assigned to the development of your special torpedo.
We have begun analyzing the data on the chip, and so far we have achieved positive results. We have begun drawing the first sketches and have come up with a possible way to achieve our goal.
The torpedo itself uses an old design of a perforator torpedo, we have managed to redesing sections of it for our purpose. This is the basic model of the torpedo currently in he design labs.
It's impact head is made of reinforced materials, it works in 3 phases.
Phase one is initial perforation, based solely on the torpedo momentum. It requiress the target vessel to be completely deshielded, otherwise its momenum will be absorbed by the shield and will most probably explode without contact with the hull causing little to no damage. The torpedo's engine uses an ion accelerator, basically a miniature cruise engine that adds to its speed. It should be able to completely perforate any exterior hull, and if used against a lightly armored target it will manage to perforate several layers. It contains a directional explosive warhead
Phase two consists of an accelerometer mechanism and a high temperature compound. When the torpedo senses a sudden stop to zero or near zero speed, it releases a directed high temperature compund, similar to thermite, the same compound used to break up big diamond asteroids in Omega 11 space into smaller bits, it slices through diamonds like it was butter. The directional melting compound will finish any reinforced hull, while causing the minimum structural damage possible.
Phase three is the organic compound canister. It's basically a smaller torpedo, housed inside the main structure. The thermite compund will melt the main torpedo's warhead and will melt the frontal structure, leaving the smaller torpedo free room to be propelled forward, releasing the compound after a set timer filling the room with the liquid.
There are drawbacks to the torpedo however.
The design is over-complex, hence the torpedo will be prone to sudden failure. We will conduct enough tests to ensure maximum reliability, however we recommend carrying extra ammunition to be safe.
A perforator torpedo makes little structural damage, that's the main reason no perforators are used much Sirius-wide, usually the different factions prefer a weapon that does lots of damage. The reason it does little damage is that the torpedo doesn't carry any of the usual explosive warheads. If you fire the torpedo at the wrong place, it might not perforate deep enough, on the other hand it could simply perforate the entire ship from side to side, hence most perforator guns are rejected on the spot. that said, additional ammunition will be required to compensate for this unreliability.
We require additional information in order to proceed. We need to know what kind of vessels will the torpedo be used against, in order to calibrate its speed and perforation power. Currently that weapons is valued to be around 12.000 SC per unit, the launcher is a simple magnetic accelerator, actually it is pretty much the same as the Nova launcher, valued around 3 million SC after slight modifications. The development cost is currently valued around 10 million credits. The total should be around 25 million credits, includes one launcher for test purposes and 1000 fully functional units. More launchers can be purchased later. Additionally, the more units you purchase the lower the cost per unit.
If you are interested, we can arrange a meeting at The Ring, to finish discussing the final details of the design, and begin development immediately.
