I like the Idea it would add more to my RP however I dislike it...way more. Im sorry its costly enough just to upkeep the darn thing. Im not gonna earn more credits just to fly it. Though I give you props for a good idea.

haha, made me laugh there - the only ship i can imagine that is a nomad battleship, cause its all organic. - thinking of it to have to "stop at a planet and eat" every now and then. other than that, having to replenish stuff is annoying. - annoying to the point that its no fun anymore.
i do agree that balancing battleships is hard, - and i am still for coding it so that whenever someone is destroyed ( suicide or pvp or pve ) he is left with like 1% components / armour and maybe 50% weapon damage ( 1% weapondamage would be too much of a bad thing ). - but i d include fighters and bombers into that, too.
at the same time, give capital ships the strength they "deserve" back. - harder to kill, one must use his brain if one wants to attack them, but if they are attacked, repairing them will cost a few millions ( and thats fine ... i wouldn t mind having a repair cost of 30 million to fully repair a battleship. - thinking of it... i have the option to only repair the most important parts and safe up for the less important ones if i don t have the money at this time )
of course, bombers would have to do the very same then. - 50% of a damaged supernova after a destruction = 3.5 million, - thats not as much as a battleship, - but will require some efford, too - so no more mindless attacking. - and a fighter like a VHF will have a repair cost of prolly like 500k - 1 mio "only" which is very affordable.
another good thing... traders that go by the rule "i rather die" will think again... their repair cost won t be like 2-3 million... but certainly around 1 million which is FINE for a transport - when they are destroyed.
that would get rid of the occasional battleship owner that doesn t RP in them but only wants to attack as many targets as possible, cause he ll soon have to think if its worth it all. - but then again, such a change should never be made without improving the capital ships.
edit: i think i should copy my comment about that, cause i appear to make the same one each time such a topic pops up. - and it still think its the fairest one to make, cause it affects everyone the same, based on their base shipcosts and its realistic. ( only problem is, it spoils the "practicing of pvp" - even the RPed practice, which IS a problem, i gotto admit ... or practice must be done in very cheap fighters )
