The Tenacity, Originally designated BMM-1412, is a Firefly-class Midbulk Transport ship, manufactured in Bretonia. Tenacity had a rather unremarkable career while in service to Bretonia Mining and Manufacturing, until the conflict with Kusari in the Tau systems sprang up some years ago. Her last voyage was to be from Holman Outpost in Tau-31 back to New London; however, shortly after leaving dock the Kusari fleet hit T31 in full force, wiping out every Bretonian ship in the system in a single, bold move.
Tenacity was quickly without escorts - lost to the Kusari fleet. Her crew had only two options - run or die - and the latter wasnt high on anyone's list of priorities. The chase lasted some thirty minutes, at high pace through the dense field of asteroids and ice crystals. Tenacity took several critical hits from the Kusari gunboats in pursuit, frying the main reactor and disabling life support. Believing the ship to be finished, the Kusari fleets broke away and returned to their invasion.
The Tenacity floated through space for a month, derelict and lifeless, before being picked up a Zoner salvage team in Tau-29. They drug the husk of a ship back to Freeport 6 for repairs. While Zoners werent commonly salvagers, they would occasionally bring in derelicts to sell from their stations to freelancers, mercenaries, traders, and the like. The income supplemented their harsh life on the edge of space.
once the ship had been repaired it was sold to a tradesman bound for Kusari. The man owned a private ship(junk)yard on New Tokyo and collected various vessels for resale to civilians. The zoners gave him a good deal on Tenacity - likely due to the poor condition the ship was in.
She sat in disrepair, neglected, for several months. Most customers to the shipyard wanted fighters, luxury yachts, or decommissioned military vessels - not derelict transports that wouldnt even get out of the planet's gravity well. That is, until Blair arrived...
The Crew:
---------
Christopher Thorn - Captain/Pilot:
Referred to simply as "Boss" by the crew of the Tenacity - Thorn is the man who took the risk dragging the ship out of it's junkyard grave on New Tokyo. He served in the Eighty Years war as a General and Ace fighter pilot on the GMG side of the dispute. He pushes for freedom of independents in the both the core and outer worlds, and in that spirit named his ship "Tenacity" - meaning vigilance, perseverance... and stubbornness.
Thorn was left without work after the war, and resorted to picking up any job he could find - many Illegal - just to stay alive. His last job in Kusari space was deliverance of a suitcase bomb to a meeting between Hogosha crimelords - completely unaware of the specifics. The pay was good, but the Hogosha put a bounty out for him, and ordered him to be killed on sight if seen in Kusari space.
He took the money from that job and bought the first ship he could afford; BMM-1412, which he quickly re-registered under the name 'Tenacity'. After repairing the ship and hiring on a crew, he fled from Kusari space towards liberty, finding friends with the junkers who hailed him as a hero of sorts for his work in killing several notable Hogosha leaders.
Jace Dillon- Tech Expert:
Jace was hired onto Thorn's crew when he arrived in Liberty space. Thorn was a Lane Hacker on the run, wanted for turning a Hacker operation south out of moral motive. Despite being arrogant and careless, He's a good fighter pilot and an even better hacker. His knowledge of liberty tech, along with expertise regarding the trade lane and jump gate system, make him an invaluable member of the crew - able to pick up info over encrypted channels that most captains would kill for.
John Dekker- Mercenary:
Dekker, like Jace, was hired when the Tenacity made it to Liberty space. He's quick tempered, loves to fight, and has no qualms about murdering for credits... traits that make the captain and the rest of the crew keep an extra eye open. Though they expect he'd turn on the crew without a second thought if offered enough money to do so, Dekker has grown fond of the ship and his mercenary greed has faded over time.
Rachel Coriolis- Mechanic:
Rachel is a bretonian girl in her late teens who was captured when Kusari invaded the Tau systems. She was sold by the Hogosha into slavery, and ended up working at the junkyard where the Tenacity sat. She's a brilliant mechanic, and would put many of the engineers in the house navies to shame. When Thorn bought the Tenacity, Rachel hid aboard, hoping to hitch a ride out of Kusari space and find freedom once again, but she's grown to love the rest of the crew and always brings an optimistic view to it's predicaments.
Mariko Tanaka- Diplomat:
Mariko is a mystery aboard Tenacity. None of the crew knows who or what she was before she came onboard the ship - paying the Captain several million credits in turn for room and board. She still earns her way however - Mariko has close ties to a number of organizations, including the Blood Dragons, Golden Crysanthemums, and Zoners. Those ties allow her to book the ship and her crew jobs wherever they might go, and occasionally gives them clearance to areas that would otherwise be prohibited to a civilian vessel.
The Mission:
------------
Thorn and his crew are out for one thing - freedom. To live by the stars, unbound to Governments or factions. Though they have 'officially' joined the Junkers, they consider themselves independent. Living free isnt free, however. Thorn seeks and accepts any job he can find to feed his crew and fuel his ship - legal or otherwise.
The Tenacity has two decks, upper and lower - layout is as follows:
A - Cockpit. Contains the Pilot and Gunnery stations of the ship.
Piloting station: Christopher Thorn (captain/Pilot)
Gunnery station: John Decker
B - Stairwell to lower deck (Cargo bay).
C - Commons area. Contains a central table where crew meals are held, a side kitchen area where meals are cooked (top left), a ladder to a top hatch on the ship (bottom left), and a crew lounge area (bottom right).
D - Stairwell to lower deck (Crew Quarters).
E - "Engine" room. Contains the reactor which powers the ship's systems.
A - Stairwell from upper deck.
B - Cargo Hold. The main entrance and airlock of the ship are at the front of the hold.
C - Stairwell from upper deck.
D - Crew Quarters. Five rooms total for the five crew members. Contains two small, triangular supply storage rooms. Also contains the sole toilet/shower aboard the ship.
Captain Christopher Thorn has recently altered his ship's mission from generic freelancing to deep space research.
Through the employ of independent research stations, such as Willard research station and Cambridge research station, the Tenacity is now being used to investigate anomalies and unexplainable deep-space phenomena. Newly outfitted with an advanced sensor package and radiation resistant hull plating, along with improved computer databases and internal science facilities, the Tenacity is on a quest to solve the mysteries of the Sirius galaxy.
For the past several weeks, Thorn and the crew of the Tenacity have been investing time and effort into a very secretive trade... that of information. Nearly a month ago, Thorn met up with an information broker he had been hired to kill. He was intrigued by the profession... dealing with secrets, lies, and knowledge as if it were a physical, tangible commodity... buying it, trading it, selling it for profit. The business was far more lucrative than one would expect; everyone had secrets, everyone wanted theirs kept safe, and everyone wanted to uncover any their opponents might have. Thorn, newly initiated into the information broker trade, acted as the middleman in these exchanges, and through Jace Dillon's technical expertise he was able to recover extremely valuable information from databases and the lane network, information that could be sold to the highest bidder.
Blizzard here I was wondering If you wanted a fighter watching your
back. I am lookng at this present time for a strong captian, who is wanting there own fleet.
With fighters watching your back you would be invincable.
