' Wrote:Tommeh, plz explain me the shadow problem, i don't understand.
Top left (blue planet):
The light source is from the crescent on the blue planet, thats why the shadow of the guardian's fin, the end part of the shop, is towards us.
Bottom right:
The light source here is from the planet's surface and from behind the planet, lower part of it, so the shadows are coming towards us and going a little to the left.
I had to make ships vibrant because they need to be seen on the image. I really don't see a problem here.
Although, knowing your are not a joker and you have solid experience in this field, i would love to hear your thoughts on this, what is bothering your eye, so to say.
thanks.
As for your models, i don't think they suck, the reason why they looked slapped on, is because you can see the polygons, thus making them little unnatural. I am not sure what program you are using, maybe there is no option to smooth the model. I was not picking on you, just told you something to take a look at.
For your models, I meant that there is no colored shadow matching to background, no colored reflection from sun/nebula whatever is behind the ship. Something which I always try to match as much as possible.
But now looking at it again, I guess this is your way to make sigs complete, aka, there needs to be focus on something in sig, and yours is very smooth ship models and colored reflections on it might just ruin it.
I was using 3DS Max 2010 for my models, but didn't managed yet to find a way to make renders look smoother.
But then again, I don't know to use it for anything else, so my limitation is probably in there.
Anyway, I haven't done any PS work for past 2 months, so not an issue for now:D
Don't have time anymore for that kind of work at PC.
Scout, why hasty? You had this open for a week, as soon as I said i will make something, people jumped on it like flies on feces. Seven days with no responses and when Makc decides to make u something, everybody is like, oh, no...let me do this, let me do that...
I don't think it was hasty.
In Soviet Russia we have saying (i will translate to the best of my abilities) Bend the iron while it is hot.
@Tommy, thanks for the heads up, i will keep an eye on this. I will also look more closely at your art work, seems like i was missing this perk.
