I honestly think that it's pathetic that people play games purely for the fact that they can get on, look at someone and decide "I want to kill him" for no real reason. The RP helps keep the idiots out, but a lot of people get too serious with it and start assuming every little joke or odd word is OOC.
A deep RP is a good RP but sometimes it's easier to be more elaborate with it when you have it from your own age. Though it's often awful when people try to adjust their characters knowledge to their role. Not every Navy officer needs to know everything to pilot his ship. You could always blame your lack of knowledge on "i went to officer school, and had some people who could pull some strings to get me into high places."
Okay you pissed me off. I will put a bounty on your head and send the Mandos in your home:D
But yeah some also take it too deep it is a game after all...
You see, if you consider Roleplay as a necessary rule.... Well ability to roleplay is the only thing which keeps me here for the second year.
If those who think that RP is only a needed array of phrases to be thrown before shooting...Well or that system-wide *xxxx: Hello New York! ololo-trololo; ect* joke is enough to be considered as role-play ( why do we have system-wide frequences at all? remove system chat for the god's sake, less trolls, less lols, IMO ), those people are simply of a *show-off* type, who prefer a bit of stupidity and ridiculousity shouting rather than well-done roleplay to interact...because it is simplier? funnier? better attention-attractive? I have nothing about that but! It is very and very overused.
I'd like it if players keep it on NPC's *Cardamine, cardamine! Everyone needs cardamine!* level, when the joke is light, not stupid and not system-wide.
Nothing is bad in iRP humour, but people tend to lose brakes and fall into *mad's man mad jokes*, especially well illustrated by unlawful parties.
On the side note - drunk capital vessel captains, or sighter pilots. As for me - the worst, the most stupid character's condition which could be ever roleplayed.
There are no drunk NPCs around! Not even Mollys.
