Le bumpage... any obvious pitfalls

and also

would there be anything against having customers of the bank eligible for collecting bounties on a player who robs the bank. what constitutes a 'blanket bounty'?

A blanket bounty is a bounty on all players with a specific tag or ID, as opposed to a "regular" bounty on a individual ship/character.

Careful with this. Your bank will be in the RP section of the forum, if someone lends money and doesn't repay, they can claim they are doing so in-rp. I know in the past admins have been striking down on this, but they haven't done so in all cases, so you shouldn't count on "admin guarantors".

Well theres one flaw in bank, if someone RPs by loaning a large amount on money and promises to pay 3x he loaned 2 weeks later, he may not repay within the time the amount is due, and he claims he paid by RPing, but actually not.

So you report it by posting in Rule Violations section, but dont threaten the scammer or you get 3.4 sanction. Simply report, and he will be punished by admins who see the post (only admins see posts in rule violations section) and you get the money back before someone did loan, and he loses money he loaned to you. So i dont support the bank system for this reason.

I started one of these many moons ago, back when arms dealers were a big deal and a good way to make money. You're welcome to my ideas if they can help you in any way. I capitalized on people's laziness. If someone has a gun they want on their corsair on their trader who is in New Berlin, how can they get it to... whatever the corsair home planet is. God it's been a long time.

Simply put, you have 3 or 4 characters, each with a good collection of codenames, equipment and money. When someone wants 2 GUARDIAN's (or whatever) from New York to New Berlin, they 'deposit' them with you in New York, and 'collect' them in New Berlin, for a set fee.

They get their guns, you get your money, you have your collateral by refusing to give up the equipment/gun/money unless they coughed up the cash. The main reason this was going to work was because the server was being a bit buggy at the time and people were told they had a 1 in 10 chance of losing any money they sent via givecash.

Kinda mixes in with the make a ship for people. Just an idea.

I think the biggest flaw in this whole idea would be your limited customer amount, since after all, one would first need a ship worth 100 millions in order to rent 100 millions.

Long-standing customers would also be eligible for loans at preferential rates of interest. I.e. invest when you have the cash, and then when i see that you are a normal player, when you need to hit me up for 100m, i'll look upon it more favourably

Saving accounts sound like a great idea, however i guess you'd need a reliable customerbase first.
Another idea would be to give those that invest into a savings account a share of your profit, taking their money to rent to others, but carrying the risk&work yourself.

This should only be done for larger loans though.
I have just seen to many people get screwed doing this.

Savings accounts do sound like a good idea. But as Talesin said, you'd need to make the interest rate enough to 'invest' in your savings accounts. maybe an interest rate of 5% when their money is used in a loan, 2% if their money isnt used for your loans business. Also give them the option:
take the lower interest rate and have complete safety, or allow them to give permission to use their money in loans and in exchange they get a higher interest rate.

I'd put money in, if i could get 5% back in interest.
