I have been having this idea for a while now and I wondered if it was feasable. As an alternative to the snac I thought, why not have a fast firing, very inaccurate alternative (a little like the hell fire rocket pod, just more inaccurate). Each shot would only deal a fraction of the damage one snac blast deals and it would be way too inaccurate to hit any fighters with it. (other than pure luck)
The weapon would really be designed to be fired at anything at least Transport/Gunboat sized and upwards. It would deal slightly less damage per second than the snac and quickly drain the bomber power core.
With a refire rate of 5.88 it would depend on the bomber powercore if you could get seven (light bomber), eight (medium bomber), nine (heavy bomber) or even ten shots (fafnir) with a full power core.
Range would be similar to snac.
Some stats I made up:
Type: direct Hull damage: 16575 Shield damage: 8287 Refire: 5.88 (highly inaccurate - more so than the hellfire rocket pod) - forget the the numbers it is about the general idea Speed: 280 Range: 1200 Power used: 5075

As a sound I propose the firing sound of the weakest lava blade gun (other guns use that sound too but I can't remember them off hand right now).
I have to admit that the weapon you want is going to kick the Hellfire out of action.
I mean, who cant resist a weapon that does so much better damage and controllable energy usage WITHOUT NEEDING AMMO?
And besides, that thing is more powerful than a BS Cerberus Turret in terms of DPS. It'll turn any bomber into the most powerful ship around...

Too overpowered, would instantly fry any transport and gunboat because its big, and would seriously imbalance the game. Also many would abuse its refire rate, and energy dont matter on them.
So no. Way too overpowered, would make bomber the most powerful. Even 3 of those bombers against a dread would win without losses.
Assuming damage would be brought into balanced, why would anyone choose constant anti-cap constant DPS weapon over "fire and forget" SNAC or Nova torps? Technicaly you have regular guns and Hellfire to do such a job.
Just as everyone else said. The IDEA is really nice, but even wild inaccuracy wont stop that weapon from being a death machine. I mean, 90000+ DPS will outclass even a BS cerberus turret and as monmarfori said, it would fry a lot of stuff.
And if a skilled pilot knows how to use that weapon it would still be death to any fighter due to the high damage.
