Which would you say would be best?
I've heard lolgates are the most vest for missions, but if you I get one there's nothing to do but missions, whereas I can get a Ranseur and park it in Albert and do missions there, maybe go and kill libertonians once in a a while.
And for whichever one you suggest, what would be a good Loadout?
I'm getting cap7 for it.
IMO Legate is the better ship and has better missions, but there's more fun and less of an anti-capship mentality among the Outcasts. More PVP options too; and far more generous ZOI (101st and LR- are gonna smack you for taking your boat to Liberty though, but whatever).
I used a "brute force" Ranseur: 4 cerbs and basic primaries (better DPE than OC primaries); uncloak point blank and do what it does best: Deal severe damage in a forward direction - it deals more damage than a Turtle does when attacking facing your target. You can quickly "delete" any Colonial Kronos that venture into the Tau's that way or get under the belly of a Valor and chew it up.
For missions and for fighting pesky cruisers, you might be better off with some missiles on it; but again the cloak can get you so close to a cruiser that it won't have time to get out of range before your 4xcerbs eat it. You'll cope in missions too without the missiles, it might just take a bit longer and be a little bit more tricky.
Also you can consider doing what I did and get a Sarissa instead, they are going to shrink it in 4.87 so it won't be useless anymore, but it's going to be an entirely different type of ship than the Ranseur altogether.
One thing about Legate - it's one of the rare batlleships in the mod that have heavy turret slots suitable to mount razors on them. (paired ones, in the middle of the ship), and better arcs for heavy slots in general.
but it's performance in asteroids...
But since you're doing missions, both would do, I think - just go with full cerb setup.
