Alright, this issue is not related to 24/7 specifically, not even disco probably, just FL.
So I don't know if this is the right place; if it's not, could someone green or orange move it as necessary? That'd be great.
So occasionally, I will start disco and fps will be capped at 20, making it unplayable.
I have no idea what causes this, it seems to appear randomly and isn't influenced by other applications running.
It also doesn't seem to change back, closing everything else and restarting FL makes no difference - the only way to fix it is rebooting.
Normally, my fps are steady at the cap of 60.
Anyone experience this problem?
Edit: Running an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz with a Radeon HD 5700, WinXP 32 bit.
My first guess would be that you haven't plugged in your notebook's power plug, or that your PC was running in energy-saving mode.
Did you update your drivers recently?
Does your PC have an onboard graphic chip?
Does the fps rate change when starting in/switching to window-mode?
Did you recently change anything in your graphic settings?
Does the process run in highest priority?
Unfortunately I've never been a Radeon user, because I can imagine that the error is caused by your graphic card.

It's not a notebook. Edit: Energy saving mode? Pretty sure that's not the case; how would I know if it is?

Yes.

I guess? I don't know, don't all mainboards have some sorta onboard graphic chip?
It came with some older NVidia card, upgraded to that Radeon card about two years ago.

Hmm, haven't tried this. I'll give it a shot next time it happens.

I did change AA settings a little while back, but the problem occured randomly before and after that.

Priority is "normal".
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

Consider yourself lucky, although the card itself is great, I've had tons of problems with the driver and various software.
Well it makes no difference whether I'm docked on or not when this happens. Nothing (I've tried) makes a difference, except rebooting.
Anyway since it doesn't happen very often and is easily fixed, it's not really a serious issue.
Was just wondering if someone else had this happen and found a quick fix.
I've tried it with or without fraps, closing itunes, skype, and basically everything else that isn't like, the firewall, antivirus, and other essentials. I'm pretty sure it's not some other application.
power saving mode could also be an issue but shouldn't if you're using a desktop pc.
Could something affect the frequency of your monitor so that it would only refresh with 20Hz?
Something I have found on the internet:
Quote:With a 60hz monitor and vsync enabled, if the FPS drops below 60, it will drop down to 30, that's just how vsync works.
The solution is to enable triple buffering, but since most games don't have built-in support for it, you'll have to force it through a third-party application such as D3DOverrider.
Could it be related to that?
Also, updating your drivers might actually be a problem. Try rolling back to an earlier version.
