Severe Ping Problems

Any idea how to reduce ping?

I'm already a lag-nom due to being far from the server. My usual ping is 350ms.
Currently, or rather, a few days ago continuing up till now, my ping has somehow spiked to an average low of 370ms and an average high of 480ms+.

I can't pew anymore, I'll just lag all over and make people tear our their hair. Q_Q

Any ideas on how to at least reduce ping so I don't have to spend the rest of my Freelancer days transporting stuff while lagging down trade lanes? Preferably, solution should be free and not involve changing service providers (I'm in a godamn contract till next year September).

Oh and no, "shifting to Germany" is not an option.

lul tell me about it. I used to play in vancouver, and my ping was 150. not great but still playable. now im in japan. I average 380. Ive tried EVERYTHING. Really, EVERYTHING. Im sorry to say, but there is little hope for us.

You're not going to get a free increase of connection quality. You'll either have to buy a better router that exceeds your current router's maximum speed. This won't do any good if you're already using the maximum prescribed speed your provider is offering, though.

Either that, or you'll have to switch to a better provider. And if you aren't already, hook up your PC to your router wired, not wireless. It makes a lot of difference.

Well, looks like there aren't many options for me.

Guess "live with it" is the best solution I have for now seeing as I can't change my service provider due to a contract and how I'm already wired. Maybe I'll get a new router, those aren't too expensive.

My connection provider suffers hiccups, due to constant rainy activity in my place. Guess I have the same problem, don't worry.
