A bit of a weird issue between Freelancer and dxtory, not sure if this is even the right area for it, if not, please move it.
So far I asked in Skype already, looked through the internetz etc. Thought maybe someone here knows:
Dxtory, using the x264 codec, seems to limit its use of CPU cores regarding to the game it is recording, at least from what I've seen. Unfortunatly that means it only uses one core when recording Freelancer, since Freelancer is only single threaded.
While my computer would have absolutly no problems recording in 1920x1080, a single core just doesn't cut it (4 cores + 4 virtual cores).
A way to fix it is to "force" Freelancer, via task manager, to accept all cores - I avoid the word "use" here, because obviously a game which doesn't utilize multi-threading can't use several cores at once. With that, dxtory records all fine, with only a very small impact on the FPS at best.
My question is, is there a way to force Freelancer to ALWAYS have the core affinity set for all cores? Or is there a way to make dxtory use all cores?
I tried a program called ... what was it ... Process Lasso? Or something. Didn't work. It seemed to have set the affinity like I wanted, but it didn't work. Still only one core was used. After I turned the program off and forced it via the taskmanager, it worked.
