I'll keep this brief, Guildsmen.

A Hegemon-class mining vessel and Hydra-class Colonial gunship were today destroyed within the Java defensive perimeter. I doubt I have to elaborate on why the gunship was eliminated, but the Hegemon was to be terminated for numerous violations of Gallic law; far too many to detail on, in fact. Amusingly enough, a rather brash Sirian Junker took it upon himself to get involved, although he was also forced to retreat afterwards.

I am all too aware that the very nature of a 'guild' - a somewhat loose association of like-minded individuals - lends itself to the arising of such 'misunderstandings', so to speak, and therefore I completely understand that this is of course an isolated incident. The Guild as a whole will, naturally, not be held entirely responsible for the actions of one rash, rude, misinformed and now-illegal captain.

However, the incident as a whole does concern me, and it is for this reason that you are receiving this missive. Java Station is not to be a staging ground for any forces considered hostile to the Crown, regardless of their alleged 'past associations' with the Guild. For instance, while the defensive platforms were sufficient to repel the Sirian Junker criminal with my assistance, I could not help but notice their mysterious failure to deter Colonial assets from operating in the region.

To this end, the Navy proposes the immediate pushing of a firmware upgrade to the automated defensive network in the Java perimeter. As a matter of fact, this has been planned for a long period now, but in light of today's events, I felt it prudent to accelerate its development.

As I'm sure you're well aware, the Royal Navy is committed to stamping out subversive and hostile elements in the Tau-23 system, among other territories under our protection. Therefore, improvements to the Java defensive platforms would benefit the region greatly, as the improved targeting and threat response software would increase the perimeter's security and, futhermore, perhaps prevent such 'misunderstandings' from reoccurring in future.

Naturally enough, the firmware upgrade would carry with it a standard selection of targets in accordance with the Crown Criminal Database. It is my hope that this would ensure the total freedom of Java from any and all elements which could pose a threat to the security of either of our interests.

Here is the relevant dialogue from the incident outlined previously.

I very much look forward to hearing the Guild's response to this proposition. I'm sure it will be more than pleasing.

In service to the Crown,

***Name: Paul Ireland - Ship: Malacore***

Greetings General Lucie LeBlanc

This situation has recently come to my attention and I'd like to inform you that I was not piloting the mining ship Malacore that night, It was on loan to a friend of mine and I'm honestly disgusted at how he has acted toward the Gallic Navy. His rights to my ship have been revoked and I will make sure that any monetary compensation will be awarded to you and your fellow officer that was engaged in the conflict, just let me know exactly how much damage was caused and I'll be sure to compensate you correctly.

I would also like to add I do not support the actions of any Colonial vessels within Gallic or IMG space and as a rule I do not affiliate myself with them, as an addendum I reviewed the station logs and would like to inform you that the Valorous Intent was reported to be lost with all hands and to my knowledge no crew member survived.

I do hope that this situation can be resolved peacefully and the status of my ship will be allowed back in to Gallic space or back to Java Station, I'd like you to know that I will not lease my ship out to anyone after this event and if you need any support from me or my ship please ask and I will gladly help you out.

Regards Paul Ireland.

**** SENDER: Jack Henderson, IMG Operations Coordination ****

**** TO: Général Lucie LeBlanc ****

Général Lucie LeBlanc,

the Guild has received reports about the recent trouble around Java.

Time has proven that the Java Defense grid, that has been installed and calibrated more than 10 years ago is not state of the art any more. While it used to be sufficient in the past, the mix of old and new transponders is something that the defense systems cannot adapt to. Even though the Guild's technicians managed to fix a wide range of technical problems, there are undeniably still unsolved issues at Java base.

Therefore, the Guild understands and welcomes the proposal of the GRN to exchange the faulty and outdated software with some state of the art equipment, as it will certainly keep unwanted conflict from Java station.

Java Defense told me to ask whether you prefer to use the old IMG hardware, meaning the turrets and gun racks as they are present now, or whether you are also planning to replace the racks and guns with new GRN technology.

I don't mind either solution, the technicians just were curious and were trying to anticipate the changes in defense power against Outcast attacks.

Yours sincerely

Jack Henderson
