To be honest, what I would far prefer is if someone was able to create new base interiors for planets. In short, when you dock with a docking ring and land on a planet, its still a "base interior", only instead of a space station its a planet. I'd like to see more custom ones of those for Disco, especially a tropical rainforest one, a heavily polluted one that doesn't look like Leeds, a tropical beach one (for Baden Baden), different oceanic ones etc. Just to give some variation.

I could try making something like that in 3ds max but I'm no modder, i have no idea how to put that stuff in the game or even if what i make in 3ds max will work for it.

Yuri (Treewyrm) would be the best one to ask for pointers on how to mod it in etc. I haven't even the faintest idea of how to do that stuff or even what programs are needed heh. If you are able to create it though, it can probably be tested out by someone else or Treewyrm might be able to teach you how to test it out. Either way, he's the man to ask for this stuff XD

As for what I can 'create'... I can either use 3ds max to make actual 3d models of the environments, like so:

Or I can use terragen, but I dont think terragen could be exported, unfortunately. 3ds max is both harder to create realistic environments in, and also cant create environments that look as good as terragen can:

Speaking about Terragen... Take a look at World Machine (http://www.world-machine.com). It's a wonderful terrain generating tool. Exports as heightmap. Basic edition is free and allowed for use in free projects. It can also export to Terragen for texturing and such. I am not sure if it can texture (and export textures) itself... going to check.

Thats the cityscape model for manhatten, imported from the CMPs. The actual landing pad model (The one you see when docked, out of the landing video) cannot import correctly it seems.
That CMP importer really could do with some touchups..

I can make landscapes but the poly count wont be low.

Been here since Discovery 4.77 (lurk mode engaged)
