I had a report of a player firing while he was cloaked. This was reported to me by one of my server staff.
I immediately pulled the reported player to my ADMIN account and logged into it. The game allowed me to fire while engaging the cloak but after the device was fully operational, it was not possible to fire. I assumed this is what the reporting staff member had witnessed but he claims that the ship was fully cloaked and it looked like fire was coming from nowhere.
I checked my server logs and found the following entries.
[29.06.2014 18:53:53] NOTICE: Possible cheating detected (id=witheld unexpected starting process/dll name=4000) by information witheld
[29.06.2014 19:25:08] NOTICE: Possible cheating detected (id=witheld unexpected starting process/dll name=4000) by information witheld
[30.06.2014 16:40:54] NOTICE: Possible cheating detected (id=witheld unexpected starting process/dll name=2000) by information withheld
The ID was the character name that was reported.
Is this some new cheat or maybe one that's been renamed?
There was a cloaking cheat (which let you shoot while cloaked) that was around many years ago, but I assume current versions of FLHook have that cheat blocked. Unfortunately I don't really know much about the technical details of that cheat or the prevention.
