Thanks for the tip, Vincent. I was wondering how you could get a freelancer tag. As for your question about getting gear from two factions that hate each other, I think that even though you're a freelancer and that it IS possible, don't. Like it's been said before, the point isn't to get a uber PvP setup; it's to get a good setup that goes well with your RP. That's all for me.
THEY TOLD ME I COULD BE ANYTHING SO I BECAME A SIGNATURE PLS HLP
Well, a good setup of codes and Debilitators never hurt anyone, except the person in your crosshairs.
However, it's fine to use different faction setups, and mixed weapons.
HOWEVER, yes, Tizonas and Krakens is too much.
With Freelancers, it's not really a question of how OORP your weapons are, since Freelancers travel all over the place, and loot all sorts of things, but, your weapons mostly control which part of Sirius you are accepted in, RP-wise. That's mostly it, really.
However, codes and Debs are relatively decent, in fact, my setup on my Freelancer Sabre is the best I've had, and no one bothers me about it, except some newbies who scan me and go "how much for ur lvl10 wep?"
' Wrote:That's like saying just because they happen to sell Outcast and Corsaid gunboat turrets at the same place, you can buy either of them.
Are the weapons loadouts at each base perfect? No - but remember, a lot of equipment locations were based on the SP style of play. In Single Player, heck, I've got a Liberty Assault Battlecruiser flying around with Order Turrets and Zoner turrets, doing whatever the heck I want - killing anyone and everyone. (Which is another reason that I don't ever want a big capship in multi-player - battleships are PIGS!) Who CARES in SP what you do? And that'd how the game was originally set up...
Now, it's my understanding that in 4.85, there WILL be changes to the weapons available at each base, because the mod IS based on RP. So you need to practice the self-restraint and RP the weapons.
I didn't say I was trying to get a great PvP setup (if I did, then just ignore this) but what I was trying to say was that since the Order sells them, than they must be ok for them to use, but I guess I'm wrong. Makes you wonder how Liberty weaponry finds its way onto Toledo... Anywho, thanks for clearing that up.
' Wrote:I'm fairly sure I've posted a big response in a thread like these, but I can't find it to copy and paste.
A pvp-setup is just as oorp or not as any other combination of faction weapons. Tizonas and Krakens would be just as OORP as Hornvipers and Vengeances. One might be more effective, but both still require some sort of justification. The hornviper+vengeance combo, although trash, still is "oorp" with no proper explanation.
Ok I gotcha, I'm sorry if I came off as a PvP whore guys I wasn't trying to sound that way (and believe me when I say I am terrible at PvP). Also, if you find that response then please post it, it might help clear things up for other people.
' Wrote:As to the question of getting Freelancer rep:
Zoner bribes do well. The more boxes of Zoner rep you get up from bribes, also raises your Freelancer rep even more.
However, you can also take Bounty Hunter bribes. After getting both Zoner and BH bribe, get to Sheffield station in Manchester, and do BH missions like mad.
Eventually, your Zoner rep will go down, but don't worry, your FL rep will still increase because of the BH missions.
After you got the Freelancer rep maxxed, more often than not, you'll have the BH tag, so kill a few Bounty Hunter ships, and LPI ships if you've been doing lots of killing Lane Hacker ships missions.
Now, your FL rep won't be maxxed anymore, since you killed several BH ships, but, don't despair. Over the course of your BH missioning galore, your Zoner rep will have gone down. All you have to do, to finish the tag, is to get a Zoner bribe.
Take it from someone who has setup 3 Freelancer tagged, IDed, RPed characters, one of them being my sig.
Cheers.
Wow! I have been wondering how to get rep with Freelancers for a while now, and this pretty much explains it perfectly! I'm going to get started on the BH missions immediately (as I have good rep with both the Zoners and BHG) so hopefully I have a good jump on the rep requirements.
Thanks a lot for your help guys! I hope other Freelancers see this thread because there are a lot of good tips in here on equipment and rep setups.

I have a good mix of lawful weapons on my two Freelancers, on my GB I have Liberty guns, cerbs (Rheinland guns), and Bretonian guns. On my Arwing I have Zoner and Liberty guns so I guess it makes my ships look a bit more lawful than the next guy's. I'm just going to try to keep my guns relatively the same for now because I'm sure people won't be happy with me if I'm going around NY with both lawful and unlawful guns.
From the other Freelancer/merc setup thread. It's a similar message to my response here already.
Quote:In my opinion, Mercenaries and Freelancers have more freedom in their choice of equipment, but it still should be logical. No, I won't mention Krakens and Tizonas, as any other combination (eg Firekisses and Suncannons) would be just as "OORP". This combination of Rheinland and GC weapons is not effective in PVP, so it's not complained about.
If a freelancer/mercenary wants to play it safe, they could get a suitably neutral and uniform ship like the Eagle, combined with civilian or universal weapons. If the character has to branch out, then factionised equipment might be used, but it's good to justify these decisions. Is the freelancer friendly with the GC, so he has access to their weapons? Or did he strip them from the wrecks of a famous fighter battle?
You need to get the triple Zoner bribe from Freeport 2 - Bering, and then take bh missions.. destroy a few zoner depots.. take more bh missions.. destroy some bh guard.. eventually you'll get it. >.>

Ok thanks for posting that, that's a really good guideline to go by for my Freelancers or if I create any more Freelancers.
' Wrote:Also, a little warning:
It takes around 70 BH missions to get Freelancer rep maxxed. Good luck with that.
Oh boy... I was wondering why after two or three missions my Freelancer rep hadn't even moved...
Looks like my Freelancer GB is going to be out of town doing missions for the BH for a while. Hehe, thanks for the warning though!

I was thinking about getting another Zoner bribe but since Manchester is far away from Bering and now that I have a BH tag I don't think any pirate players will be happy with me. So for now I'm just going to hang around by Shefield (sp?) and do BH missions for a.... uhhh.... while... But thanks for the tip!
