Well... I guess personal tastes vary... Although, to be honest, back in 2004 when I saw a Viper from the 1978 series in a mod, without having watched Battlestar Galactica at all, I instantly liked the model. I believe it's the recognition that clouds the judgement of people (although, let's be honest... The Arwing with that manga razorblade design... What has it to do with western art?)
Style-wise I love both Star Wars and BSG ships, almost as much as I love Star Trek and FL ships, but I just cant see SW ships as Bounty Hunter or Liberty ships or BSG ships, at least not with their current textures.
I could see the Vipers as something with the proper retextures, and theyd fit even better if a whole line of bombers/freighters were fleshed out around them.
I wouldnt pair them with any of the vanilla style lines, but like the homeworld ships they could provide members and a base for a new design lineage to hand to a faction that lacks one.
The battlestars just dont fit anything we know of in FL... but Im open to being convinced otherwise...
Coalition ships maybe?
"Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to several friends of mine, they like to keep a fixed distance from me most of the time, and they have a tendancy to spin and gyrate on multi-directional mounts faster than you can compensate for. They disgorge 75 isojoules of subatomic disruptive destructive energy. Fear the tachyon cannons"
In that case, get it the hell out of the mod.. now! On topic, i think the imported ships that people don't want in the mod, sho0uld get revamped textures, to match it's fl counter part.
I can deal with re-vamped textures. Actually Id really rather them since it establishes more coherence. :)
