Letter to Admiral George Richard Hall, OBE

[The Kingdom of Bretonia]

A small envelope sat upon Halls desk. It had been left by a messenger only an hour ago. As he turned it over, he noticed the wax seal pressed into the back, holding the crest of the monarchy.

He would open it to read a small letter

Admiral George Richard Hall, Officer of the Bretonian Empire (OBE),

Her Royal and Imperial Majesty, Carina I, by the Grace of her Forebears, Sovereign of the Realm of Greater Bretonia, Empress of Tau, of the Kingdom of the Near Omegas and of her other Realms and Territories Queen, Protector of the Independent Worlds of Magellan and Cortez, Defender of Justice, Head of the Order of the Bretonian Empire, cordially invites you to Buckingham Palace on the 10th Febuary 823 A.S. You will arrive at 1300 hours, where you will be invited to meet with her Majesty, Queen Carina, followed by an announcement. You may bring one guest with you.

[Thunderer]

A flushing sound echoed through the Norfolk's hollow, metal walls. A door, behind which was its source, opened. Hall came out and the first thing he saw was that a small envelope sat upon his desk. It had been left by a messenger "only" an hour ago. As he turned it over, he noticed the wax seal pressed into the back, holding the crest of the monarchy.

He wasn't sure if he was delighted or destroyed. He was certainly afraid. Hall can deal with random filthy Corsairs or arrogant Gauls, but a Queen, and the Queen of Bretonia herself, was another thing. How is he going to talk with someone so sublime, Hall, a mere slime that has only managed to climb so high due to his lowly ways? How is he planning not to stick out of the distanced nobility like a drunken beggar in a library? Or even enter without laying his eyes on every piece of decor like a bedazzled savage?
This is probably going to be the hardest task of his life, he thought, or at least one of five. But, it had to be done. Nobility was what he was aiming for. Land, wealth and influence were indispensable for realization of his vile plans.
