As Leader of the Confederation of Eastern Freeports, I am making notice that the Treaty Of Westphalia is on a path of becoming Null and Void unless action is taken.

At this time we are dealing with a crisis upon Freeport Two in which will not only affect the Zoner Populace in the region, but those of the Alster Unioner should inaction be taken.

We recognized the Alster Union as Owners of the Western Half of Westphalia within the treaty and you are the first we will discuss the incident with. If we cannot find a way to end this quickly, I will have no choice but to lobby the support of both the Rheinland and Liberty Governments to intervene, which I do not wish to do.

We know of the threat now growing in Westphalia. In fact it is the Confederation keeping members of the Liberty Security force and the Military wing of the Commonwealth of Liberty, Hellfire Legion, from joining in on the situation due to our ability to act diplomatically. You face currently a possible bloodbath, but without us stopping several parties, annihilation. We do not wish to apply pressure more onto a disastrous situation but.. I take personal responsibility for the situation in the first place.

I made a mistake in giving a criminal a chance at redemption for the sake of money and freedom. And in return, I was wronged and my trust was trampled on for power. Judge a man after he has been given power and how he acts with it. We will do our best diplomatically to keep the powers at bay but we do not have Fourty-Eight hours.. You have a bit more than half of that. After that... There is little even I can do.

Save who you can before then. I am truly sorry that this incident came to pass, such was never my intention.

Wait wait... I was never shown this documentation before, how it has passed me is beyond me. What in the name of Eris is the Fifth Fleet of Liberty doing in Bering to start? What the hell kind of vessel was transporting goods for the people on board?! I wont lie to you Jansen, but when I was contacted by the LSF over this issue I told them to stay in Texas. No one informed me this was over an IFF change. When Jimmy the Rat informed me of what was going on I took that as a sign of a hostile take over and to piss off.

Look. I've already arrived in Bering. I will more than willing to talk to you face to face alone if given the chance. This is a disaster... I don't wish to have our work tossed aside because of misunderstanding.

Then we are prepared to give you one final chance. The hour is dire enough.

I have arranged a meeting with international humanitarian Doctor John Holiday aboard Pacifica Base, which, for now, remains relatively well defended enough to stave off the Liberty Navy for at least another month, give or take, providing the neither the Navy or the LSF rely on unconventional weaponry. If they can clear the blockade, I will attempt to rope in representatives of the Junker Congress as well. We will require advice as to how to build a system of maintaining the Freeport's sovereignty beyond the purview of the Zoner movement and the TAZ.

I would advise Jimmy to enter attendance as well; if he does or not, is entirely up to him. Irrespective as to the result of the conference you will be permitted to leave the station unmolested and the bounty, which is very real, will be dropped. You have at least proven that you are not willing to sacrifice the lives of your own people to retain the power of the Confederation, which shows spirit enough.

I also deal in life and death, Zoner. I frequently make mistakes so obscene that to call the failure a failure is an understatement answerable only to God. Our movement is regarded by a scourge - it is funded by the arms trade, blackmail, and the bones of alien civilisations. Unfortunately, this is the life we are forced to live to survive in a Sirius that does not want us. We never had the liberty of running away, or re-pressurizing an old Republican shipping outpost in which to hide. We are a hive of desperation and social failure. Does this make us villains, or victims? Do we deserve to die?

Perhaps.

I have had plenty of time to contemplate my own fate. I have many sins. If I live, I will sin again.

But for the first time in my life, I have the potential to do something just... something good. Because of this, I am prepared to die in its defence, as is every Unioner in the trans-Bering conduit.


This is what you can do to improve the situation immediately.

The Liberty Navy and the LSF will not withdraw until they are forced to withdraw - it is too late for that. However, their political resolve will be weakened if you tell them unequivocally that you do not support the blockade, and you believe a diplomatic solution can be made. If they can no longer claim they are acting on the Confederation's behalf, they will have to be honest in their true purpose; rooting out the separatists, and establishing a military forward operating base right on Rheinland's border.

Tell them that you no longer support their intervention, and the intervention of any other armada you have aimed at us, and we can come to terms. You will enjoy being witness to what we are attempting to build here. Our very own... hm. To recycle a parlance... autonomous Zone. Forged not by the Union but by the independent souls who live out here. Even if some of them are smugglers, and some of them are pirates.

More will be made public in the coming hours. Rest assured, the independent worlds will remain independent, one way or another.

I would be more than willing to come to Pacifica to talk Jansen. Doctor Holiday is a very good friend of mine and one who has saved my life so him being there would be most honoring. And.. Truth be told years ago I was actually a member of the Junker Congress too! They are a good people despite the oil and rust and junk and well you get what I mean. We wwill be able to have a respectable meeting in this to look forward in the future.

There are many things even I am not proud of having to do, just like you. Do you have children Armin? I do. One little daughter who I am terrified of knowing that she will have very few like her to be around when she grows up. And to keep her safe I have had to forgo morality to do just that. We do what we do because we think its the right course of action. Many wont see that or may even call us mad for even thinking our actions can be right, but, let us try to fix things before more is lost.

I have informed the LSF to keep actions to a minimum but they don't have Jurisdiction with the Liberty Navy. There's nothing I feel I can do in such to stop them from continuing to blockade Freeport Two. But. What I can do once the dust settles is try to restore things as they were prior to the events of the Liberty and Rheinland War. Relative Peace. But. If Eris willing, we can achieve that, it would be a boon to co-operation between the Alster Union and the Confederation.
