Kyushu Incursion event - question to staff

Please remind me, was the whole event retconned completely because some GRN and KNF guys started a conflict? I would like a definite answer from admins or story devs.

Seems like a very drastic measure, hence my doubts. The event was not built around KNF and GRN relations, after all. People shot Nomads, Nomads shot people, traders got their event... Why cut it all, really?
