The entire subforum is being used. Active events are in the main sections, Event Archive gets filled because events tend to end after a while, then they get archived. The section is visited when there is something new. If you see no action there, it's because there is no server event ongoing at the time or there is no change regarding the active ones, and that's more related to staff activity and conduct than forum layout. That section is good as is, does have a purpose and serves it well, even if you can't seem to notice it.
The "Server Events" subforum includes:
Sub-subforum titled "Uncharted Kusari" - - Last used March (Inactive)
Sub-subforum titled "Event Archive" - - Last used 10 days ago (Active)
Pinned thread titled "Event Plan" - - Last used January (Inactive)
+
Normal threads x2 - - Both last used 3 months ago (unknown).
The normal threads x2 that may or may not still be active in-server events, put them into the actual "Events & Competitions" subforum. The "Event Archive" sub-subforum should also go to the "Events & Competitions" subforum.
You can't be this dense, can you? I just told you Event Archive looks active because threads are fucking moved there from the main section once an event is over. And in case a thread isn't moved, and still is in the main section, maybe even having that shiny [Active Event] prefix, chances are high the event is still active. If that's still not enough of a hint for you, get your pretty butt ingame and check out the green text when you enter or undock in Cortez, Magellan or California.
Don't fix what's not broken, don't remove what's (and likely will be) still in use.

And where would you put the Faction Section Moderation thread, or all the other announcements, for which the section has been used?
The normal threads within the "Faction Rules" subforum overall haven't been used since April.
My question wasn't aimed at further using threads which served their purpose, but posting further threads with generally similar purpose, announcements related to factions, which tend to pop up from time to time and been placed in this section. Where would you put them in the future? The question is about the purpose of the section, not of those threads in it.
You also didn't say where you'd place the Faction Section Moderation thread yet.
Server Events and the ones archived there are different than Events & Competitions, as they are managed by the server staff and tend to span many days. Events and Competitions thread is for those events managed by players and tend to last as short as an evening.
Since the population will keep on declining inevitably and activity will be more and more focused on regular events, I'd suggest making a new main section like Server Events for Events and Competitions in Discovery HQ to make these as visible as possible.
It irks me that everyone wants the server to accommodate them when the reality is that the they accommodate the server. You came here to play this, not dictate how you want it. The server offers you what it does, you offer it nothing.
Bite the fucking bullet and accept the generosity these unpaid people give you.

Well crap, wrong account.
I know you Altejago - You aren't that stupid. Don't try to be now, it doesn't suit you.
If making suggestions on how the forums can be make more efficient for the general public, bothers you that much, step away from your computer for a bit.
I appreciate the compliment, but you have to admit that it's current state is better than it was when we joined. Everything has improved dramatically so who are we to demand things be made easier again? There are far more important things this server needs attention on rather than trying to develop an easier way to find basic stuff. There's that bar at the top with shortcuts everywhere. If anything, link the important RP relevant threads there. High light events with a comms post on home page with basic information like it does now.

I hear you. I just don't know why past the subforum for archived events can't be inside the events & competitions subforum. The "Server Events" subforum under "Discovery HQ" can be removed and relocate the one [Active Events] post to the Events & Competitions subforum as a pinned post + relocate the archived subforum as a sub-subforum under Events & Competitions.
Then move Events & Competitions to the forums homepage, not under General Discussions. Once it's on the forums homepage, it'll get more eyeballs scanning over it, thusly more clicks, thusly more players involved in events. That will help the server pop over time
