Hitting small ships precisely is one of the problems when facing snubs with heavy battleships, usual targetting systems either rely on battleships' own system or have one preinstalled like with Battleship Solaris turret. With the general idea on my mind, i bought some advanced deep scanners to take out their telemetric recognition system and consider their power requirements as each turret would have its own targetting system.
On my trip through liberty space for inspiration i met some rogues which were selling Belial fighter guns to buy something different. I took few guns from them for a fair price and went back to my ship's laboratory to inspect them. Back there i mounted those on an experimental chassis for the new class 10 weapon with the state-of-the-art scanner. Trials on autonomous drone inside the lab were good enough to convince me to continue.
Finished scanner with telemetric recognition system for better accuracy was installed instead of the former targetting system of a battleship solaris turret. Belial weapon was completely scrapped from the design and only the idea of laser-type weapon was kept. Several experiments and many ship hull panels later, laser weapon was done and had a similiar output of regular secondaries with the speed of solaris.
Two laser weapons were mounted on one turret to increase the damage output and the fact that they were small enough. Problem with this turret is its power draw due to the scanning and targetting system. Some of that was mitigated by using superconducting materials, yet it still was not enough and requires more power than a typical secondary weapon.
P.S. Power requirements might be demanding, but it's precision is awesome. Should consider precise timing of fire when in combat.
