Synth Foods, despite our altruistic goals of supplying the populace of Sirius with accessible, affordable food is - at the end of the day - a business, and a business is nothing without a product. While we offer a variety of products throughout a dizzying amount of fields, this e-brochure will hopefully describe the essentials for any deep space outpost, fledgling organization, multi-sector corporation or military enterprise. With these Synth Foods systems at your disposal, you can be sure that whoever you're responsible for - be it your children, or a hundred million souls - will go to bed with stomachs full and minds at peace.

While most know Synth Foods for their revolutionary Synth Paste and Gel products, as well as the dizzying varieties of Synthcrop that make those lovable products possible, it is the Biodome amongst all other innovations that makes Synth Foods the necessary answer to your long-term space habitation problems. From our earliest days in the early seventh century AS, partnering with then-upstart NutraForm, Inc. to create the first self-sustaining, self-contained orbital food production facilities (i.e., Biodomes), Synth Foods has always placed a priority on the research and development of more efficient and responsible ways to generate the resources needed to sustain life in the most hostile environments imaginable. The development of Synthcrop was the first step in this endeavor, but it was far from the last.
Biodomes are a varied beast, and it is better to talk about them each in a vacuum rather than all at once. Behold, then, the Synth Foods, Inc. Biodome Catalogue:
A cluster of four Mark III Bio-
domes in use on Freeport 9,
Omicron Theta.
SBD676-AHS3-D Automated Hydroponics System - "Biodome Mark III (d)"
»Dimensions: 50m dia x 25m hgt; base area of ~1963 m² »Peak crop performance: 20,000 cal per m² »Maximum crop sustainment: ~450 inhabitants »Oxygen recycling performance: 16.4 g per m² »Unassisted oxygen sustainment: ~400 inhabitants »Water recycling performance: 88.37% »Typical construction price¹, incl. labor, parts, etc.: ~100,000,000 S.C.
The Mark III Biodome is the oldest in-service model of self-sufficient food production system available for sale by Synth Foods, but it has long since earned its veterancy as a stable, reliable product. Seen deployed across the Sirius sector as a cost-effective method of food and oxygen generation, from the innermost House stations to the farthest reaches of the Omicrons.
¹Please note that this is a generalization; price will change depending on location, logistical cooperation, difficulties in installation and hazardous considerations. Contact Synth Foods Corporate for more information.
SBD712-AHS4-B Heavy-Duty Automated Hydroponics System - "Biodome Mark IV (b)"
»Dimensions: 40m dia x 20m hgt; base area of ~1256 m² »Peak crop performance: 20,000 cal per m² »Maximum crop sustainment: ~275 inhabitants »Oxygen recycling performance: 16.4 g per m² »Unassisted oxygen sustainment: ~250 inhabitants »Water recycling performance: 87.55% »Typical construction price, incl. labor, parts, etc.: ~85,000,000 S.C.
The Mark IV Biodome was first deployed in 712 AS, after Synth Foods took on a contract to supply an installation in extremely hostile territory - Freeport 5 of Omega-41. Shielded against nearly all forms of harmful radiation and armored to a similar spec of Liberty second-line warships, the Mark IVb system is designed for those installations at the edge of the frontier - and for those organizations who require their most precious systems to remain secure. After all, all the armor in the world on your command component won't keep your crew from running short on food when the unshielded Biodome is taken out.

SBD809-AHS5-A Advanced Automated Hydroponics System - "Biodome Mark V"
»Dimensions: 50m dia x 25m hgt; base area of ~1963 m² »Peak crop performance: 40,000 cal per m² »Maximum crop sustainment: ~900 inhabitants »Oxygen recycling performance: 19.5 g per m² »Unassisted oxygen sustainment: ~550 inhabitants »Water recycling performance: 94.33% »Typical construction price, incl. labor, parts, etc.: ~175,000,000 S.C.
The Mark V Biodome is the premier product of Synth Foods, and the standard-issue product issued to all new high-capacity installations ever since its development just after the dawn of the 9th century AS. Utilizing revolutionary advancements in crop sustainment and revitalization technology, the maximum yield on compatible Synthcrop fields has increased twofold over its direct predecessor, the Mark III. These advancements, of course, come at a cost - progress isn't cheap, and for those that have no need for the excess yield, perhaps the much common Mark III is a better bet. In addition, these advancements far outstrip the natural oxygen replacement of the plants, requiring either Synth Foods, Inc. oxygen compression solutions or substitute raw oxygen deliveries to sustain the maximum crop capacity of 900 persons.
SBD825-AHS5-E High-Yield Automated Hydroponics System - "Biodome Mark VI (e)"
»Dimensions: 60m dia x 30m hgt; base area of ~2827 m² »Peak crop performance: 42,500 cal per m² »Maximum crop sustainment: ~1350 inhabitants »Oxygen recycling performance: 50.25 g per m² »Unassisted oxygen sustainment: ~1400 inhabitants »Water recycling performance: 97.51% »Typical construction price, incl. labor, parts, etc.: ~300,000,000 S.C.
The Mark VI (experimental) Biodome is the newest development of Synth Foods research and development, and the pinnacle of developments first made in the Mark V model. While experimental and prone to occasional breakdown, the yield and support that one Mark VIe can bring to an installation is far beyond that of its predecessors; it even incorporates some (although not all) of the steps made to shield the Mark IV model from hazardous radiation, making it the perfect fit for those operating with large forces in dangerous territories. Rest assured, if your organization is one that deserves the best, look no further than the High-Yield Mark VI.

Where Biodomes are the method of delivery, our foodstuffs are the shipment themselves. Chances are, if you have eaten in the past year within the Sirius sector, you have tried at least one of the many options available from Synth Foods, Inc. or her subsidiaries. Our actual foodstuffs offered by all organizations are far too extensive to offer a comprehensive list, but this should serve as an adequate introduction as to what is available to those who may purchase a space- or ground-based agricultural solution from Synth Foods, Inc., or as to what prepared goods you might expect if interested in our Catering or Sustained Aid programs.
Without further ado, let us first discuss our options for production:
Traditional Agriculture
»Crop Yield Efficiency ≈ 78.93% »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ 84.33% »Avg. Yield Loss Per Generation ≈ 4.71% »Performance Rating Impact ≈ -19.33% »Surcharge for implementation: +20,000,000 S.C.
Traditional Agriculture is the solution which is almost certainly brought to mind in the layperson's idea of the "good old days", a rusty tractor bringing in bales of wheat and grain, bushels of apples and tomatoes, and the multicolored variety of the vegetable stands of mid-millenium Manhattan. In this method, the finest organic methods are applied to grow the traditional staples, with no synthetic or genetic modifications to increase lifespan, yield, or biosphere performance. Where possible, arable soil supplements the hydroponic systems for growth, which also helps to enhance the organic nature. All of this comes at a cost, however, of both efficiency and credits - maintaining a seed bank of unmodified crops is taxing on Synth Foods infrastructure, and inevitably unmodified, naturally occurring crops do not have the necessary optimization to attain peak performance in Synth Foods Biodome products - so you will need to adjust your needs according to the Performance Rating Impact.
Mixed Agriculture
»Crop Yield Efficiency ≈ 88.25% »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ 79.92% »Avg. Yield Loss Per Generation ≈ 2.25% »Performance Rating Impact ≈ -9.87% »Surcharge for implementation: +5,000,000 S.C.
Mixed Agriculture is a pioneering new method that seeks to appease the wants and desires of those who love the traditional textures, shapes, and flavors of their home-grown food but can't afford to suffer the drastic impact that traditional, unmodified methods bring along with that nostalgia. By applying the core genetic and structural modifications of Synthcrops to our traditional crop varieties, we are able to offer the fundamental equivalents of traditional fruits and vegetables without necessarily suffering their entire cost. Of course, we are not legally permitted to describe the resulting crops as "organic" or "GMO-free", so those that are looking for those sorts of assurances will unfortunately need to seek out our traditional options.
Synthetic Agriculture
»Crop Yield Efficiency: 100% »Customer Satisfaction Rating: Insufficient sample size »Yield Loss Per Generation: 1.12% »Performance Rating Impact: N/A »Surcharge for implementation: N/A
Synthetic Agriculture is the premiere option that Synth Foods, Inc. provides to all Biodome and Agricultural Support customers. This option represents the pinnacle of Synth Foods research and development - our latest generation of Synthetic Crop, or SynthCrop for short - and is what gives the Biodome products their life-sustaining power. No performance decreases, little to no yield loss, and maximum efficiency - this is the crop that everyone, from the rich on Manhattan to the Zoners of the Omicrons can agree on. As you are no doubt aware but we will nonetheless go on to explain, SynthCrop is highly malleable and can meet any need you desire - no matter the flavor you crave, there's a Synth Foods option that will meet your desires.
In our next installment, we will discuss the various preparation methods and products available from SynthCrop. Stay tuned.

For many, the home and core of Synth Foods is not the gargantuan biodomes which give life to those intrepid explorers in deep space, nor the crops that dot the fields of Stuttgart and Los Angeles. No, the true core of Synth Foods is the food that we put on every table, from Bretonia to Rheinland, rich to poor. Our mission is the service of all those who would call themselves our customers, although we prefer to call them our esteemed guests at the world's largest dinner table. And, as many a restauranteur would suggest, you can provide no better service than a belly full of good eats.
While the true product catalogue of Synth Foods is simply staggering, we hope that these categories define the broad strokes of what choices you have in what ends up on the dinner table. Without further ado,
Synth Paste
»Market availability: Sirius-Wide; produced primarily at our Stuttgart location »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ 86.29% »MSRP per unit: 49 S.C.
Synth Paste is Synth Foods' premiere foodstuff, first developed as the product of Synthcrop in response to the great California Drought as an emergency ration to stabilize the famine situation. However, after traditional agriculture recovered, our market research discovered that the vast majority of citizens of Los Angeles who had accepted food-related aid from Synth Foods, Inc., had remained active purchasers of the product even after traditional foodstuffs returned to the market. The reasoning, in retrospect, is simple - this cheap and affordable product is shown to be as tasty and fulfilling as traditional foods, while also meeting 100% of daily nutritional recommendations. Customer satisfaction has only increased over the last two centuries as additional development has driven down the price, while the simultaneous increase in product varieties - 28 as of this year - has only helped to broaden the appeal of this universal product.
Synth Gel
»Market availability: Sirius-Wide; produced primarily at our Los Angeles location »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ 93.02% »MSRP per unit: 190 S.C.
Synth Gel is a relatively new creation comparative to its progenitor, and is intended as the upper class, luxury alternative to our successful Synth Paste product. While maintaining the same pre-harvest processes as traditional Synthcrop, Synth Gel requires a much more intensive post-production process that offers a much wider variety of textures and flavors, with the ability to mimic almost all traditional foodstuffs in not only taste but texture. The downside of such an intensive method is that it requires dedicated development facilities which to-date are only present on Los Angeles and in development on the nearby Riverside; as a result, the price-per-unit is unfortunately adversely affected, but we believe that this is a quality product that those with finer tastes will learn to enjoy. Plans to develop processing facilities at our Stuttgart location have unfortunately been indefinitely delayed.
Synth Individual Combat Food Ration (S-ICFR)
»Market availability: Limited export on contract; produced primarily at our Riverside location »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ N/A »MSRP per unit: 85 S.C.
The Synth Foods Individual Combat Food Ration (S-ICFR) is one of our recent expansions into the military foodstuffs market. An unfortunate fact of life in Sirius is that war and strife is common, and the brave men and women of the armed forces that keep our Houses safe and secure deserve a hearty, nutritious meal. The S-ICFR is designed for both extended deep space operations and ground-based combat missions, and is intended to be a twice-daily consumed product available in 12 breakfast / lunch menus and 16 dinner menus, providing 1500-2100 calories on average. Specialty variations of ICFR menus are available per-House contract to flavor attached paste and gel products to match local palates.
Synth Shipside Emergency Ration Pack (S-SERP)
»Market availability: Limited export on contract; produced primarily at our Riverside location »Customer Satisfaction Rating ≈ N/A »MSRP per unit: 33 S.C.
In military engagements and space travel, inevitably the best-laid plans will fall apart and the logistics chains will break down. Ships will inevitably find themselves away from their normal supplies, and those on-board will need sustenance in order to survive their emergency situation. While many House arrangements have been worked on over the years, we believe that we have pioneered a solution: the Synth Foods Shipside Emergency Ration Pack, or SERP. SERP kits contain a single, large chocolate-flavored protein bar that will sustain an individual for up to a week on baseline caloric intake, while providing the daily essential vitamins. In collaboration with Cryer Pharmaceuticals, the latest generation of SERP bars also contain immunizations for 17 rare and potentially deadly diseases found on hostile worlds across Sirius. Synth Foods, Inc. is working with house governments and shipbuilders to ensure that these kits are found in good supply on each and every spacefaring vessel, so that no person ever goes hungry.
This catalogue may change or update as products are re-launched, updated, recalled, banned, or otherwise modified. Stay tuned for our next installment.
