Kinkaku-ji, the temple of the golden pavilion, is an installation of the Gen'an Sisterhood dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and the founder of the Golden Chrysanthemum movement, Yuyu Matsuda. The Station is the Gen'an Sisterhood's main installation, having both strategic and economic value.
The base initially started as a shrine base, but the Gen'an Cell quickly realised its strategic position and utilised this to set up their weapon and cardamine markets and opened up the base to the Blood Dragons and the Maltese. At thise stage, the entire station atmosphere was laced with cardamine and the Sisters offered protective masks to non addicted allies.
After discovery by the Kusari Naval Forces and the successful defence against their fleet, The Gen'an Chrysanthemums opened the Shrine base to the factions that came to their aid, namely the Lane Hackers and the Rogues. An ambitious new plan emerged where the shrine base would be reinforced and shipyard facilities are added.
In 18 October 826 A.S., The living Quarters of the Stations were greatly expanded to allow a significant increase of population on the station and the construction of the embassy section was finished. The cardamine was removed from the atmosphere in the public sectors to make it more hospitable to non-addicted visitors. The restricted areas, Sector 3 and 4, have cardamine laced ventilation systems to ward off unauthorised visitors, among other defensive systems.
As of 4/11/826, the hull of Kinkaku-ji has been reinforced with Niobium and the station's weakest points have additionally been reinforced with Tungsten.
Clearance levels Level 1
Access to the docking bays, hangars, repair stations, embassy, and cargo bays. Black market weaponary and cardamine are available in the shops.
Level 2
Access to the Shrine, dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and the founder of the Golden Chrysanthemums, Yuyu Matsuda. Several priestesses tend to the shrine and its visitors.
Level 3
Access to the ship factory under the shrine. Here the Gen'an Sisterhood produces C5-F "Blossom" Golden Chrysanthemum Heavy Fighters, C12-F "Iris" Golden Chrysanthemum Very Heavy Fighters and C7-F "Orchid" Golden Chrysanthemum Bombers. The factory also provide the means to reproduce several civilian vessels
Sector 1 covers the docking bays, repair stations, storage facilities and trade center. Those with basic clearance to dock on Kinkaku-ji are able to use the facility to rest on their journey, while Golden Chrysanthemum engineers provide quality maintenance work on GC and allied vessels. This sector of the station also provides a sellpoint of quality assured cardamine, imported directly from the Maltese Cartels. Besides this, the Sisterhood maintains a good stock of black market weapons and munitions.
As you enter Sector 2, you will enter the central biodome of Kinkaku-ji. In the middle of the large garden is a Heian era style building. When passing the entrance, the scent of different and special kinds of oils and flowers is present. The Shrine of the Goddess consists of three sections, each of them serving a special purpose of the rituals and ceremonies.
Section 1
The medium sized room serving as the entrance into the Shrine of Amaterasu. Visitors and sisters are supposed to "clean" their bodies and mind by the water present in the small fountain located in the middle of the room, while candles serve as the needed light. On the right side changing rooms are present, stuffed by white clothing with red ornaments similar to Kimono.
Rules:
Golden Chrysanthemums do not have to change their clothing
Visitors must change their clothes as they may contain evil spirits
People have to clean their bodies and mind by a simple ritual before proceeding to section two. (spread the water over your forehead, shoulders and elbows)
Section 2
The second section serves as the final cleanse of the evil spirits before proceeding to the ceremony hall. Visitors of the shrine have to walk through the corridor of thick layer of water, as yet another ritual of the cleanse and self-discovery. The person may discover some traits and emotions as the mirror of their bodies and minds appear below them.
Rules:
Do NOT leave the path you are following to the ceremony hall
Do NOT talk or produce any sounds
Section 3 - Ceremony Hall
Ceremony hall, the biggest room of the Shrine. Here you can find numerous candles located all over the Shrine, benches standing in front of the altar, the altar is decorated by yellow ornaments of the sun and one huge mirror in the middle, while huge statue of Amaterasu is present above it, one pult is located in front of the altar , where books of Yuyu Matsuda or old mythology are read. In the right corner are placed three tables with pillows instead of chairs where different kinds of tea are served. In the left corner is located The Wall, where sisters and visitors may add their name and symbolic number, after that they may silently share their wish with the wall and it may become real in the future. Ambient music can be listened to as well.
Sector 3 of Kinkaku-ji is designed to manufactor several types of fighters and bombers, but is specialised at the creation of the Blossom Very Heavy Fighter and Orchid Bombers. Using this facility, GC engineers are also able to reverse engineer civilian ships, most notably of this is the Eagle shipline.
C7-F "Orchid" Golden Chrysanthemum Bomber
Orchid Bomber
The "Orchid" was designed by the Golden Chrysanthemums to rival the bomber of the Blood Dragons. The Blood Dragons assisted in the bomber's development, but the Chrysanthemums had a different set of specifications in mind. They wanted something that could rival military bombers, sacrificing some agility and speed for firepower and armour. The women piloting the ship wanted something that could deal a nasty blow, and were willing to sacrifice some, but not all, of the maneuverability of the Blood Dragon bomber, and as design progressed, it drifted more and more from its cousin ship. Ultimately, the Orchid Bomber's unique design became one of the fundamental ships in the Golden Chrysanthemum arsenal.
Developed in conjunction with Blood Dragons, the "Blossom" was the first ship designed by the Golden Chrysanthemums. It underwent final prototype testing in late 815 A.S. and full-scale construction finally began in 817 A.S. The ship replaced most of the previously used fighter craft amongst the Golden Chrysanthemum pilots and quickly became the most recognisable ship of their organisation. Designed as a light armored, but agile fighter, the ship has thus far excelled in fulfilling the objectives that its designers set out to achieve.
C12-F "Iris" Golden Chrysanthemum Very Heavy Fighter
Iris Very Heavy Fighter
Created in a remote facility in the Shikoku system under the codename 'Project Warflower', the "Iris" is the answer of the Golden Chrysanthemums to the superior fighters of the Kusari Naval Forces. By intensive study of surviving technology salvaged from the wrecks of naval fighters, the Golden Chrysanthemums managed to combine the armored structure of the Orchid with the agility of the Blossom. The result was their own Very Heavy Fighter, which they can manufacture using the technology available to them. The first successful prototype was completed in 826 A.S. and lived up to its promise in its first combat deployment. Soon afterwards, the "Iris" VHF was set up for mass production to be used by GC operatives all across Kusari.
Sector 4 contains Kinkaku-ji's bioreactor and hydroponic farms, constructed with the assistence of the Natio Octavarium. Project leader was Asano Aiko.
The bioreactor ensures that the station has a stable atmosphere and water supply. The bioreactor breeds chemical- and carbon-scrubbing algae which are used for the air and water filtration systems. Following the advice of Harald Kane, the carbon removed from the air filtration systems, is reused in carbon filters for the water treatment systems, making air and water loss negligible. The algae can also be used as food in the form of algae tofu, which is high in protein, fibres and incidental nutrients. It takes on the flavour of whatever it is cooked with.
The Hydroponic farms are the second, but main source of food for the station. Modified robo cultivars tend to the plants growing there. Current growing produce are:
Mizuna
Hakusai
Komatsuna
Daikon
Kabu
Satsumaimo
Rice
