Subject: Brewing trouble

Crayterian Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs,

It's come to my attention that with the Gallic war winding down, new conflict for the Allies may be brewing trouble. This time from the Outcasts and potentially one of our own; Bretonia. Military analysts have brought to my attention that a Maltese news article has been released to Sirius with vague detailing of a secretive and possibly detrimental purpose between the Outcasts and Bretonia regarding the Tau systems. Normally this wouldn't concern the Republic of Liberty, however with a distinctive rise in Outcast activity near and within Liberty's borders this is cause for concern.

We have yet to reach out to Bretonia for an explanation but I expect little. An overview of Bretonias public listing of treaties fails to mention this 'Basilica Treaty' and I'm sure we were never meant to learn of it. I'm sending this out as both a warning and a message on behalf of the fleet.

If push comes to shove and worst case predictions are realized, and Bretonia backs a renewed Outcast war against Crayter, the 5th Fleet will have your backs. I cannot speak for support on a Governmental level yet, but I find Government responses within the Republic too slow to deal with potentially rapidly developing situations.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Regards,

Admiral Prower,

First and foremost, I want to congratulate you and your people for the waves of success you've had in the Bretonian capital. I wish Crayter units could have supported in a more meaningful manner, but our efforts in the Tau threatre have drawn most of our forces to the support of C.F.V. Hades and her assault force. I wish you luck in the battle today, and make sure you give those flatbreads a good show.

I won't lie, Admiral. The concerns from the MNS article concerning the treaty were real and caused some commotion. I personally believe the word of the article, as the government that funds the MNS, the Republic of Malta, are an unusual turn of friendship from a Maltese-descended group. They've provided intelligence for the Republic in times where we've needed it, and without them I'd say the liberation of Tau-31 would've been a bit tougher considering the intel they've delivered.

Bretonia and the Outcasts have been getting fairly close lately, even from our standing. Open trade from what I understand and this news of the 'Basilica Treaty' may be beneficial for them, but if these accusations by MNS are anything to be believed then we'd very likely see a resurgence of Outcast activity from the north. While having your fleet at our side should this occur, I feel as if one division of the Liberty Navy would not be enough to push the odds of this potential conflict heavily in our favor. We'll continue to hold the line and stay wary, but it's very relieving to hear that Liberty has Crayter's back in the worst case.

Good luck, Admiral.

For those we left behind.

Minister Westbrook,

I understand that a full division of Liberty forces wouldn't be sufficient, however due to wartime losses incurred and the recent fall of the Ottawa to Gallic experimental weapons, I cannot allocate an entire fleet to a potential Coronado front. However I can assign a 5th Fleet task group consisting of four Liberty Battlecruisers, six Liberty cruisers, four Defiant gunboats, and 150 snubcraft based off the battlecruisers. This is the most I can allocate to an expeditionary force until a full response from the Government is made.

I hope this will provide sufficient reassurance if worse comes to face. Hopefully in this time a Government response to threats to Crayter is responded in kind and a full task fleet can be allocated to an expeditionary force.

Regards,
