Greetings fellow Zoners,
It has been a long time since we have been all in the same channel. I hope this finds all of you well.
However, today I come with an idea, something on which I'd like to hear all your opinions.
In the last few months, I've been thinking, and seeing, how the Zoners' diversity, has set them apart from eachother. Each organisation within the Zoners, have a very specific purpose. Med Force are trained medical staff, Velvet are the military side of Zoners, OSI are the economical pillar between the Freeports and Genesis are the tech developing organisation.
Each of us has grown more and more indipendent, and despite some history between some of us, we respected eachother's work no matter what. But I started to wander, what if the Zoners became more united? What if the Zoners worked more together and less on their own but more with other Zoners?
Therefore, today I'm coming to with this proposal, to instate an Assembly, which would be made by us, the rappresentative of each organisation, and a substitute, in case the rappresentative cannot make it.
I'm very aware of past tentatives of creating one that failed, each for a different reason, but I'm very sure this time will be different, because we have seen our predecessors mistakes, and we can learn from them and understand where we have to repair or rely on.
I know this proposal may come weird at first, but before denying it, I'd like to ask each of you to think this through, as it, and I'm very sure of it, can bring us only good thing.

Kallisti,
I do not believe that we have met, Mr. Lawrence. I am Dr. John Holliday, founder of Med Force Enterprises. I have included our friends, the Temporary Autonomous Zoners in this as well. They are every bit the Zoners the rest of us are. I took some time to read through your transmission and think things through. Current events, past events and what may come in the future of such a proposal. As of yet, I have not spoken to anyone else of these organizations or even my own people within Med Force Enterprises.
Current events has me thinking one way while the past has me thinking another so I have decided to use a visual aid.
He places an eight inch combat knife on the table before him. Both sides are sharp. He then motions up one side of it with finger.
This side of the knife is the unified past of the Zoners, the one that has me doubting. Those who have been around awhile know the not-so-good history here. The old Zoner Alliance, The Council of Zoners and some come and gone Zoner militia groups. When Zoners pulled together with these first two mentioned groups, many people felt that we lost our identities. Each group put aside their varying politics due to location to form one common law. What once worked for, say, a group close to Outcast space all of a sudden found itself with tensions with neighbors who were once at peace. Freeport administrators found themselves having a common law in dealing with a house put in the middle of a conflict. There is a reason why I refuse to deal with politics in a place like Freeport 1. You know, the Corsairs versus the Hessians versus the IMG versus Bretonia. I could go on. It came to a head when Bretonia attempted a hostile takeover. If failed for them but not before blood was spilled. Even OSI has moved its base into Omicron Theta to get away from Bretonia, something I am sure they would rather not have had to do.
In short, we were often forced to pick sides and when we did, the side that started a problem would deny responsibility and get pushy. I care not to see this again as more than once this has not worked.
Runs his finger up the other side of the knife.
This side is current events. The hostile takeover of Gran Canaria by the Bretonian Crown, dealings with the Enclave and to a lesser extent, Planet Erie. Planet Erie is more of the past but still, individual Zoners choose resistance to Libertonian control even if not much is said of it. The Enclave in the Taus while they can be reasoned with, are still a very angry group of people. We have seen what they can do to.
I use the horrors of Planet Leeds as an example. That said, we have seen equal hostility in the Bretonian Crown. They took our homeworld, Aland Shipyard from the IMG all the while they have continued to colonize Planet Sprague.
Our response as Zoners? Begin settling Pygar, a world no one wanted, at least, not for now.
He folds his forearms together on his desk behind the knife and leans forward a bit
Notice I said, for now. Yes, we have all pulled together to work on Pygar. I have to ask, when we improve it and no doubt that we will, who will come knocking then? Who will want it? Liberty Navy ships have been seen in the Omicrons. What if something goes south with the Corsair Empire and things in Theta once again become hostile with them as they did before? While I am not a soldier, I can be a diplomat. With the exception of TAZ, we are all now in the Omicrons and make it our home and Pygar is a bit of a mutual project. Much of my past says no to collaboration but much of me also feels that maybe we do need to make a stand. We have common.......acquaintances.....in the Omicrons so that individuality is now gone. But, I do not want to be the one who makes such decisions.
All this said, I will wait to see what others have to say. In the meantime, I will monitor this and keep an open mind.
With respect,
Dr. John Henry Holliday
Founder, Med Force Enterprises
I too haven't had the pleasure to meet you or any of your fellow faction members.
I was around when the Council of Zoners was formed, i joined the Confederation of Freeports when i assumed the Omicron Supply Industries leadership, i witnessed first hand the dismantle of the CoF.
We are zoners from heart, we come together very easily for a common goal, but we are free spirits, independent.
I'll say, if you think it's necessary an Assembly to discuss a common project like Pygar, OSI will be supportive but if it's to create a set of rules the different spirits need to follow, then i'm afraid we can't agree.
Like Doc said, there could be a need of some communication and response as a whole to some threats.

"Doctor Lawrence
In my 'pinion Zoners are and shall always be free to be free, our independence from thuh 'ouses is what defines us and our independence from eachother. Tha's not t' say that ah am completely dismissive of your suggestion, ah actually welcome some type of cooperation between us four. As Doc said as well, ah've seen a fair few Liberty ships at Delta recently an' it gives me mighty conniptions bout what they intend. Thankfully most of 'ese Liberty vessels have done disappeared, we can cooperate but a governin' body that binds us with one rule? Ah don't think that's likely or wise, people see us as a threat then.
Yours truly, Max Cosmatopolis"

Greetings to all of you,
I did not expect such a fast reaction from all of the organisations, and for this I'd like to thank each of you.
Each organisation has expressed very much valid reasons of concern, which I'd like to take the time and explain how I see it, based on such doubts.
Dr. Holilday, the pleasure is mine. I've heard of your influence around the Sirius and about the humantary quest. A very noble one indeed, which I greatly respect.
Your points, are both valid. Zoners in the past have been oppressed by "larger" factions, and I've heard about OSI's transfer to Theta from Omega-49, or how they call it now, Exter I believe?
While I do agree with you Dr. , we do need to take a stance, at least in the Omicrons where most of us have installations.
That's why at first I decided to not include TAZ, not because I've forgotten, but because everything has its time. Exactly the reason of why, Freeport Administrators are not part of this conversation, yet. Not to keep them in the dark, but because firstly we need to understand where this is actually heading.
But back on the topic, to use your expression, the tip of the knife connects both sides. The mistakes of the past interfere with the decision in the present. I'm one to believe that we can learn a great from the past, especially the failures. Because we know exactly what to prevent, what to anticipate and any variables that were already encountered before. That's why this is indeed a group decision to be taken.
Now I think you'd ask yourself how we are going to achieve anything of this? Even taking a stance.
By simply bonding between our organisations.
Mr. Mendes, OSI and Genesis have been working together in the past and I've been looking expand that. The pleasure is mine.
Your doubt of this, matches perfectly with what I wanted to tell Dr. Holliday.
Indeed, Zoners in the past have been oppressed by laws of other "greater" organisations, but however, I do not want that the organisations relinquish their independency, on the contrary, I'd like to see us all maintaining it.
What I'd want to see from our organisations is that we had more common projects. More ties between us, let's call them. I hope you understand what I mean.
At last, Ms.Cosmatopolis, you are right. Zoners united are seen as a threat. But if we are talking about Liberty, anyone can be a threat. Yet, that concern is valid, but uniting under one rule only might not be the wisest thing indeed, or else the risk of story repeating is very high. And I wouldn't like to see a possibility like this gone.
I see this Assembly, as allies sitting at a table and discussing their next move, while in the meantime we are growing closer, from trading accords, to protection and so on.
I hope you understand what I mean, and hopefully I satisfied all the questions.

Ah personally do think the Zoners 'ere in this comm already work together pretty well despite previous setbacks between us. Whilst I can see the need to have some sort of official understandin' ah don't believe it is needed. When Velvet was first created, we had good communications with other Zoners jus' by bein' Zoners. Ah don't think anythin' will happen that will pull us peaceful Zoners apart from eachother.
Ah would be happy to be part of some assembly but ah don't raghtly see thuh need for it. Oh and, it's Individual or Ind. not Ms.

Hello to all
There is an ancient Earth Saying that goes like this. "The Definition of Insanity, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"
and another I quite like Is "Those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past, are doomed to repeat them"
Sensing a theme here yet?
This is a nonsense suggestion, one that has been repeatedly tried and one that has repeatedly failed. I dismantled the last of these, The Confederation of Freeport's, because it had become that which we as Zoners shun, a Central Government, a seat of over arching power over us.
It does not work.
It will not work.
We are all capable, as pointed out by Max, of working together without the need of some "Seat of Zoner" deciding what we need to do.
If you want to call for meetings to do discuss projects with those who would be relevant then fine, do so. But to have some sort of Zoner Board is impossible, this has been proven many times', Zoner Council, Zoner Alliance, The Consensus, The Confederation of Freeports, Zoner Defence Force. They ALL have failed ALL for the same reasons.
Our diversity makes such things a nonsense, for our individual goals and relationships are entirely different from one another. We are independent of one another as much as we are from the Houses. Trying to unify anything just causes issues and it's been seen in the past. OSI became a target because of the Confederations Defence of Freeport 11, OSI were not even involved with that situation.
Fact is others are quick to blame us all for the actions of one, the moment there becomes a unified Zoner entity, guess where all the blame goes.
You're a fool to even consider this as an idea, and it is one Idea Pygar will not be joining in with.
