Greetings
It seems the program IONCROSS Freelancer Character Editor is not working properly. The app. allows you to edit SP Game saves. Changing power supplies, guns, location, etc.
These is the Error messages
This one when loading save:
----------
Run-time Error "9"
Overflow
----------
This after reset:
----------
Run-time Error "70"
Permission Denied
------------
I started having this problem with 4.853. In Beta2 it was working fine.
Any ideas or anyone else experiencing these problems.
I'm not completely sure, but when I first used ioncross, I had to import certain discovery files to be able to use discovery equipment/ships/etc. If you're using a new 4.85 ship, you may be having that error because it can't understand the ship you're using. I'm too tired to look for it at the moment, but I hope this will help you.

You mean transfering the stuff in FLs Ioncross folder so it can read it? Already did it, and that is probably not the problem as when I moved a disco ship back in 84 when I was using vanilla ioncross it just seriously messed up the powerplant and engein when I went in game, nothing else.
the IonCross files are not entirely accurate for the newest Beta (such as the new Codename weapons). IonCross doesn't seem to save the modified game file correctly. Though readable by Freelancer, IonCross crashes when it goes to read the file again (the "overflow" error) and when it crashes it stays in your pc's memory and won't load again (the "Permission Denied" error)
My workaround is:
once I edit my saved game file and load it in SP, I immediately re-save my game. This seems to work out for future edits.
as for the Permission denied, go into task manager after the crash and end the FLCharEditor.exe process, this will allow you to relaunch the program.
I hope this helps.
Hopefully once 4.85 finishes beta and becomes a "final" version, it will have fully updated IonCross files with it, and the issue will simply go away. (generating them from scratch is such a pain )
For my issue it turns out it was a specific safe file. So I deleted it and loaded another save and it worked.
When editing 4.85 ships don't edit power cores, engines and lights. Keep the ships as is and just change cargo (Weapons/Items), location and rep. That seemed to have fixed the error I had.
