Just to update you on something. Since the times of your absence, us and Maltese tried to establish some sort of union in The Omicrons, reason being us lacking an ally in that region. Unfortunatelly, when the Cuatroce and Escudero stepped down, we didn't had any contact with them, other than self-proclaimed Maltese Republic, who seem to be favoring The Order. There is now Loyola Group, founded by Enma Loyola who was a mediator between us and the Cuatroce. Now we're establishing contacts with a more "sensible" half of Maltese nation again. And as a part of it, we've arranged an exchange, I'm sure you're aware of it.
Where am I going with this is that I've just heard that we received some new ships. Two "Stortas" as a part of an exchange between Loyola and us.
These ships are looking fine from my perspective, but there is something I would like in them changed. Their propulsion systems, to be exact. I hate to admitt it, but we both know that "Thresher" is underperforming, if comparing to others of its class. However, its propulsion systems are more advanced. Something I would like to see on our new Stortas.
Retrofitting our "Stortas" is a top priority task. Also, tell the designers at APM to work on new blueprints and designs for the "Thresher". They should begin working on them as soon as they are done working with "Stortas".
By the way, I've been thinking about the names for them. I think "Conquistador" and "Glorioso" sound good.
This is good news, but not entirely new to me - I remember the dealings we had with some of the Outcasts very well as I was managing the trade deals between APM and the Cuatroce for a good period of time. I'm disappointed to see them dissolve as they seemed like a promising organization that could'have led to even greater prosperity. Nevertheless, last I checked we still posses the shipments of Cardamine I requested for specialized research, but that's not important now.
I'm sad to hear of you opinion of the Thresher, but an understandable statement since it was released to mass production after a mere prototype, being the first capital-sized vessel developed by the APM.
Interchanging modules within a ship is quite an astonishing task when you don't know anything about the technology you're dealing with, especially when the APM has never had the pleasure to crack open a wrecked Outcast capital vessel, let alone an intact one. Have no doubt as I'll be appointing expert personnel on this task and we will get it done in a rather short time-frame.
As much as I would like to satisfy your request for a Thresher model engine on a Storta, I'm afraid that will not be possible: the Core destroyer propulsion modules are manufactured very compact and only capable of sustaining an armored small cruiser with potentially low amounts of cargo. What seems obvious but very superficial would be having "more engines", but - mounting several modules of said design will drastically hinder the ships maneuverability, rendering it unfit for combat.
Luckily a project in the recent years has imposed us of exploring new propulsion capabilities and a prototype has neared completion before the project was suspended, therefore I will declassify said project and have the engines manufactured for the requirements of the Storta-class Destroyer.
Have no fear - the APM will take care of your precious Conqueror and The Glorious.
