Im in Australia too and have had bad ping for the last few weeks. It was a sudden jump and stayed consistent.

Sometime during the last week it has gone back to normal for me.:yahoo:

I'm having much more funny issues.
It happens that during the play game starts to lag like hell, displaying the yellow connection icon first and then the red.

What is funniest, if I write /ping the answer comes back as 90ms or lower but it takes like 10-15 seconds to see the message on the screen. Yesterday was a record - I was waiting two minutes (!) to get anything moved on the screen. When it finally happened, I got all the messages of chat and new / departing player from last two minutes. Yet is was saying ping is around 100ms.

Can someone explain how can the ping be 90ms when you wait for the reply around 10-15 seconds?

Of course, I'm not blaming admins for anything, I just try to understand where the issue may be. Connection? ISP? Some network setup of mine?

How much loss or lag it shows when you type /ping?

I have almost the same problem occasionally, red icon suddenly shows up and game is unplayable. Everything takes almost a minute to happen from the time I did it. (sometimes results in a funny situation) When I type /ping, and wait for it to finally show up, it shows no change in my ping (usually around 30-45ms), but huge loss (around 15%, sometimes it was even 50%(!!) roughly, when I was really unlucky)

Everything except FL works fine in those situations, shutting down skype/xfire, etc. doesnt help.

What is even more weird, usually disconnecting from server and connecting back helps for me (but not always).

A criminal always returns to the crime scene.

Darkpearl - my ping reply shows no losses, 0%.

I think it actually had something to do with my laptop connected via Wi-Fi.

Because it was an old Toshiba with no built-in Wi-Fi device, I had to buy Wi-Fi PCMCIA card. I never connected the lag issue with this card but when my laptop died, I borrowed my mother's laptop to play. It has a standard built-in Wi-Fi device as any normal modern laptop.

Guess what? I've seen connection icon maybe once or twice. But generally it works perfectly.

Even today I don't know what was the reason for these lags but that deffinitely had something to do with the PCMCIA card and the lag was somewhere between the card and the Wi-Fi router.

Maybe that will give some hint...

I somehow doubt that. I'm playing on a hardwired connection and see my fair share of yellow lag.
