[[ SR-45's LOG - 01 / 04 / 828 A.S.]]
This is Leon, leader of the crew stationed on the Bustard known as SR-45.
I am a Starflier who wishes to explore and map out all regions of space. It was just my luck that within
the station known as Freeport 6, there was a ridiculous sale on a gigantic ship. Before I could even think,
I decided to buy it. This massive civilian ship is known as a Bustard. After spending a few minutes in space
with it, I know why it was on such a good deal.
Two subsystems of the ship are almost FUBAR, and it's all caused by one piece of the hull. None of the
technicians and engineers could figure out the how's and why's of this particular problem and cannot fix it.
Seems that any form of strike to that particular part of the exterior will crash one of the two systems.
To my surprise, there was a Jump Drive and Hyperspace Survey Matrix installed, and it was one of these
two that would crash.
I need this problem fixed. With some of the crew of Freeport 6 joining me, we'd continue to fly around Sirius,
mapping and surveying all points of interest. Along the way, find a shipyard that has better engineers than
the Zoners on Freeport 6. Maybe they can help with the repairs needed to get my ship into perfect order.
During my travels within space, I have come across many events, pilots and sights. Here is where I wish to
log my travels and perhaps preserve what I have accomplished before my ship, and all the data I've collected,
gets blown into oblivion. Hopefully a few logs get made before something unfortunate happens to me.

The Outcasts are a savage pirate faction. Below will detail just how generous they can be when offered the right price.
A few days ago, through my flight in the New York system, I witnessed a weapons demonstration by a Liberty Navy Fifth
Fleet Commodore by the name of Christopher Edwards. An Orbital Spa & Cruise vessel was his only audience, beside myself,
as staff and guests of the Breezewood were witnessing the show. Christopher's battleship, the Akhetaten, was outfitted with
numerous threat counters, one such device enabled him to cloak. I bet the guests aboard the Breezewood enjoyed seeing
a Navy ship decloak right in front of them. It was quite a sight. The weapons demo turned into a conversation once it concluded.
I was asked if I had seen any fantastic sightseeing locations by the Breezewood, my suggestions included the Tau-23 system, as
I personally think it's a very nice system. I mentioned how I was in the Omicrons a few hours earlier, and I had seen the Hispania
from a distance. That's right, the historic sleeper ship. The Breezewood's reception to that was interesting, as they said it was on
their bucket list to see it for themselves. I made it a point to take them there on their off time. Little did I know that this little trip
into Omicron Alpha was going to yield way more than a historic sightsee.
In between then and the beginning of my trip, I witnessed an Order Battlecruiser by the name of OCV-Be.Not.Proud try to stop a
Daumann trade convoy through the Omicrons. Despite the Order's insistence for the convoy to stop, they kept flying. It was an
impasse, as nothing was going to happen. I followed them from Omicron Nu all the way to Delta. Once the Daumann vessels
docked, the Order vessel gave up. Too little too late. I told the Order ship that I found this little event highly amusing.
Now, onto my trip with the Breezewood. I bumped into the OS&C vessel in front of Battleship Missouri. Needed some work done
at Norfolk, so I was double checking my systems. After a greeting and exchanging names, I brought up the idea of making the trip
then and there. Breezewood agreed, and we prepared ourselves to launch from Fort Bush. A short rime into Colorado, we had
another OS&C ship join us, the Svalbard. That made three.
After a few Jump Gates and Jump Holes, we stopped at Freeport 10 in Tau-37 for final preparations. Here I picked up some H-Fuel
for taking detailed scans of the Hispania once we made it. I told the Breezewood and Svalbard that I was scared for the both of them.
Heading into the Outcast homeworld isn't something you can just casually do. One more jump hole, and we were in.
Once inside, I told everyone to spool their engines as I didn't want to linger here for too long. Being familiar with the Outcast laws,
what we're doing is already going to get us killed. We made it a few clicks before an Outcast vessel noticed two OS&C liners and
one Freelancer bustard. I'm not even sure if I can repeat what was said during our visit. Seems like the Outcasts had plans, and I
sure as hell don't want to get killed over sharing their sensitive information.
Once we told them that we were here to appreciate The Hispania, I gave this Outcast a fair amount of money to give us a free pass
this visit. To our surprise, he agreed and gave us something we all didn't expect - a history lesson! He told us all about the Hispania.
How old it was, the origination of their opposing brothers, the Corsairs, how much they want to move Cardamine... it was a very
fascinating experience. During this lesson, three more Outcast vessels showed up. With more questions and irritation coming from
the later two. I told them that it seems we overstayed our welcome and we'd go back the way we came.
Once we got back to the No Fire Zone in Tau-37, I was thanked by the Breezewood and Svalbard for saving their lives, I mean, all
I did was give the Outcast 20 million credits. At that point, I jumped back to New York while the Breezewood and Svalbard went
their separate ways.
It has been some time since I have made a black box recording... 10 weeks? Damn... well, there's a lot to share...
Since my last recording, I have made some friends. This group of people is known as Orbital Spa & Cruise. I have spent some time flying with their liners and getting to know them. I even saved one of them from colliding into Planet New Tokyo! A small transport came out of the trade lane and pushed the Breezewood into New Tokyo's atmosphere! Caitlyn Cross, OS&C's Director has taken notice of my efforts to assist the Breezewood during that event, and it has lead to us becoming friends.
With an overhaul to SR-45's systems, better armour, scanner, general check-ups and the like, it was the time to change my vessel's transponder signal to something else. Since SR-45 was someone else's name for this vessel, I decided to identify the Bustard as NX-01. Seabourne commented saying it sounded ominous, little does he know the plans I have for this vessel. This rebranding has caused minor confusion as I've now had to re-identify myself to others who knew me and my vessel as it's previous designation.
The defect was still an issue, and it still hasn't been fixed. I thought I'd use it to my advantage one time and perform some blind jumps. It's the kind of idea you think will be awesome, if not dangerous. Then once you do it, you realize how stupid it is. The amount of fuel expended just flying back to anything was too much. Had to drift the rest of the way to Waterloo Station in the New London System! Speaking of Bretonia, I had a good old chat with one of their officers about applying for a license to fly my ship legally within their space. It lead to the NX-01 being granted a permanent license to use it's surveying tools! At this point, it gave me an idea...
The databanks on board the NX-01 are quite limited in both capacity and security. The only thing that's real hard to get into is my Black Box. Everything else is as simple as plugin and download. Scanning systems and surveying sectors has lead me to create a gigantic hyperspatial map of Sirius. Albeit incomplete, the information did cap off my storage capacity. Plans were then drawn to build an installation somewhere to hold my hyperspatial library. The Libertonian Government wasn't quite as lenient as I'd thought they be. The rep who I was in contact with gave me a handful of areas where I was able to construct my facility, though none were in a favourable position. My eyes shifted from House Space to the independent and border worlds.
The Kepler System at the time just re-opened. Decided to go take a look and realized what the hazard buoys were there for. A dark matter storm engulfed the entire system, lightening, radiation, anomalies and wrecks everywhere. The only real safe space was outside Ames, in the center of the system. Despite the danger to any vessels passing through, I decided to bring over the construction platform and get to work on building Starflier Base. It was at this point I also put paperwork together to become contract explorers. If these hyperspacial scans and maps can help us, surely they could benefit others. So a business was formed to sell this information.
A while has passed since then. We have got a decent list of clients, some of which have come back to us to renew their orders! Universal Shipping was paid to reinforce and strengthen my facility and at this point they are almost done. During my flights to other sectors, I have come across other groups and factions that I didn't know existed. The Gas Mining Guild were not happy to see a research vessel like mine in their space and I was promptly escorted out. After bouncing transmissions between the two of us, they stated their Law prevents cartography and research to take place within the Sigma systems. Fair enough, we won't enter the Sigmas. Unless we want to go from Rheinland to Kusari really quick. A trip to Omicron Alpha also brought up something interesting. The Outcast group known as the Maltese Hyperspace Starfleet is willing to contract us for one kind of job or another - they haven't really said yet. The one condition they set is to not enter their home system. Just like the GMG, easy done.
An interesting encounter happened in one of the Tau systems. I bumped into an Auxo vessel. Technologically advanced, I believe they are also considered criminals and very hostile. After introducing myself, it seems they are somewhat interested in my background in exploration, and my goals with my company Starfliers. Seems they'd like to invest or help out with constructing new features on board our base. Perhaps I will let them, as any help is appreciated. Their request was pretty much word-for-word what the Dons on Malta told me, we will maybe provide assistance as long as you don't enter our home system. That's how Iverness became a no fly zone for us. Good times. With more potential clients and possibly more work to send me into more places, I sent off requests to the other Houses to allow my vessel free passage to operate. We'll see if I can get granted these licenses.
