Well if joining hostile groups was not allowed, a great aspect of RP'd be eliminated, and we'd get people massing to a few factions, while leaving many others gaping empty.

The multifaction option well used by PvP lovers too, much better than RP oriented players. They just watch the log-in players and if no target around their char, just switching there where is some. This is why funny to see example noone in Alpha, but if corsairs enter, just a min and a lot of will be there. So dont hide behind the magic word: Role-Play. But this is canon here, so nothing will change I guess. The only thing what you can do, if you dont like this, collect those, who think like you, and create your own team. Then you will have a stabil group, not a grasp player who come once a week, when enemy approaching, or boring, but nothing more.

If I am going to get personally attacked for stating opinions on this forum (especially by an admin) then there seems very little point in attempting to take an active part in such a communtiy. And Benjamin, with that little reply you're a very good example of not much at all!
This topic had almost reached its conclusion, with people putting forth their arguments against my ideas, as it should be. Then we get Dieters unnecessary riposte just to aggravate matters and a little quip from his lapdog too. If dieter took my OP as an attack on BAF then he was very much mistaken and I am sorry he took it that way, he must of had his reasons for doing so but not for me to say. Personally I feel the BAF is one of the best factions on the server and I always like the life they bring to the Bretonian systems. I responded to his sarcasm as I saw fit. Nothing personal against Dieter and I am sure he is a very nice bloke and I am aware he does an awful lot for this community and the mod in general, and I applaud him for it.
But Benjamin please pull your tongue out of the back of Dieters pants mate and either add something consructive or shut the hell up.
Edited with extreme prejudice.
Have you noticed that this is the second post of yours that consists entirely of personal attacks, and complaints about personal attacks you feel you've received?
You can't complain about one thing and then go and do it. That's not how it works. And you completely changed your tone regarding Dieter between these two posts, purely because it makes you seem more 'right' in your points. Not a chance.

I guess the smart move for me would be to join opposing factions myself and experience what it is I'm trying to criticise and then come back and make this post :D

1) Multifactioning keeps this community intact.
If you've noticed, with the amount of people involved in Disco, it could easily tear itself apart, as most larger Freelancer communities have (Look at Freeworlds)
Multifactioning allows people to get to know each other and the bias that can easily evolve from having a single perspective in a fight is removed, mostly.
2) Attacking people with childish remarks (Literally for once, calling people childish) only makes you look well..childish. (Lots of childish there)
It really does come down to that the multifactioning helps reduce the tension that builds up in larger communities.

And I, SIR, have spent 10 years experiencing the hell that is command of an Infantry platoon in the British Army, so you'll excuse me if i disregard your second comment as laughable. Dont mean to be rude young fella but well...
Oh, and I'm smoking Amber Leaf, its not as long lasting as golden virginia of course but it doesnt have the nasty after-taste either
And I, my good friend, have experienced command of the 101st, one of the most convoluted old-Discovery factions this server has ever seen, twice. Young fella my @ss, dear, I have two years, four thousand posts and countless flamewars on you, and whilst blunt may be my middle name, you, my friend, are guilty of the sin of NOT READING THE RULES. It's already in there; if an Admin sees a problem (and there are so damn many of them now if they don't it only confirms my hypothesis that the way Admins are elected is completely screwed up) he or she will most certainly see it fixed. Mandatory limits? Suicide. Run a faction or two here and come back and tell me that there's a problem.

THANK you.
