Quote:Encourage anon gameplay. People change their attitude if they know who is behind a character. Keeping anonymity is really tough long-term, it should be encouraged. It can only really happen if some conventions are adjusted in the community as a whole but it probably can be done. It's difficult on discord, because you can't anonymously message the owner of another character, but I don't know of a platform that would allow you to do that.
Last Sunday afternoon, both as an exercise in Elixir and a vague attempt to have some integrity, I coded a small bot for anonymous posting on one specific Discord server as a proof of concept.
How it works:
Nobody can post directly in the server. Instead, you have to go through an alt account verification process on the forums (more about it below) and on the discord PM with a bot earlgrey#6498 (pm the bot with help for more details). This ensures that only the owner of a particular forum alt account can post as that account. Once that is done, you can write in the #general channel in the server using the alt accounts, by sending the command post <character_id> <post_content>.
Verification process:
- Join the server using the link above.
- PM the earlgrey bot with link <forum_account_name>. The bot will send you a six digit code and a forum thread.
- Log into the forum account you specified and follow the link to the thread. Post the six digit code and only the code in a post in that thread.
- Click the post number (#n at the top right of the post) and copy the URL.
- PM the earlgrey bot with confirm <link>
- If successful, the account is now verified. PM the bot with list to get your character ids, then PM the bot with post <id> <post_content> to post in the server.
