Having spent 4 years away from Freelancer and not finding a game like it (have tried Eve Online but got bored), I'm getting back into it again :)
Just started last night and I have a few questions:
1) If I'm mining and someone comes along and tractors my precious minerals, where do I stand?
2) Once I hit 40 I know I have to get rid of my Civilian ID and join a faction... say for example I wanna join BMM, do I just have to go to one of their bases and by the ID?
3) Is there a list of ships available? I currently have a freighter and have no idea where to go next to upgrade it's puny 260odd cargo space
4) This isn't a question, but it's good to be back playing Freelancer and am excited about exploring new systems.

See you all in space :D
1. Ask them to bugger off. Worst case scenario, ask somebody to help guard your stuff. Usually if you're new and aren't lolwutting and roflraging all over Manhattan, they'll help you.
2. Should probably get the tag too. And don't be mining in a Werewolf, obviously. Probably sticking with Civvy ships/equipment would be best.
3. Probably, just none that I know of. Somebody else can prolly help with this one.
4. Welcomish type back.
-Edit- You're also my new best friend for speaking of your hatred for EVE. Even if you can pay with in-game money, it still just makes you a slave to the game.

1: you've been pirated, and since its not a combat engagement, they don't have to say anything. Its polite if they rp with you, though. Magoo suggested guards, I'd suggest compensating them.
2:BMM indie, yes. Playerfaction(Important: this is not a clan), you'll have to talk with them. I don't think they have a thread yet. The leader's skype is: husher1981
3: For BMM, I'd suggest the Clydesdale, costs about 3 million, is available on Planet Leeds, about twice the cargo. I don't know where any complete list is. Since the update to 85, the ones I did know of are inaccurate.
4: welcome. Skype is a great way to get in touch with other peeps in the community.
I notice that all the generic ID's like Miner ID, Trader ID etc can not have ships with more than 3800 cargo space, is this to get people to choose faction ID's eventually?
Yes it is. The dev's and probably most of the community want to promote people playing the RP that they and the original developers of freelancer spent so much time, effort and money working on.
Also in RP it doesnt make a ton of sense for an independent to have the same assets as a corporation, the assets required to build or purchase bigger ships.
