As of late a second renisance of questions and curiosity has arisen concerning the Xeno movement. Reverend Del crafted an excellent primer, which I have contributed in my own humble fashion to supplement. It is our mutual hope that players who adopt the Xeno ID will benefit from a cliffnote perspective into the inner workings of the movement.
It is important to note that much of this is constructed upon my own views and experiences as a player, there are doubtless others who will review these works and express a contrary view. Which is dandy! Limiting yourself to a strict set of guidelines based upon fleeting rumors, newsposts and so on rather than the core ethos of a faction is for, frankly, narrow minded self important idiots.
Lexington Xenotus
The Xenos are a grassroots political movement with the primary goals of restoring a free and equal labor based economy to Liberty, restoring jobs outsourced to foreign interests and the eradication of the for profit police system which fuels itself from an unjust legislative system which operates under little oversight to all but enslave the bottom rung of Libertys social classes.
The term Xeno is one which has been applied by media, political and forces seeking to demonize the underlying message of the overall movement. The XA player faction has adopted the handle Knights of Labor in loose recognition of the historical organization under the same name.
The Xeno movement officially began in 600 A.S. following the ultimate collapse of the Denver and Houston production economies. Following centuries of class warfare, social shuffling and the growing swath of cultural elitists passing favorable legislation coupled with the unbearable pressures placed by the Liberty Police Forces ever growing need to man her prison factory camps new generations of men and women with no hope, future and increasing lack of relevance flamed a hatred of foreign business interests which had stolen their livelihoods and a nation which had abandoned them.
Recruiting within the movement is a simple affair. Every world within Liberty contains hotbeds of sympathizers, passive activists and groups who have lost everything save a burning desire to exact some kind of vengeance, to feel that their lives are again in their own hands. The worlds of Denver, Houston and Manhattan provide the greatest swaths of disenfranchised and willing recruits.
It is important to note that the spaceborn operations of the Xenos are but a small fraction of the overall operations being conducted. While strikes against foreign shipping broadcast a message which cannot be censored, these operations heavily tax the limited resources at the movements disposal. Planetside strikes, destruction of police infrastructure and political protests provide the strongest utilization of the manpower at their disposal.
Of these spaceborn factions they are divided into two polarized camps. While still of the same movement, distance and location have bred a somewhat different warrior. The Xenos of the Barrow, located in Hudson, are generally nuts. The harriers of Texas, assaulting the core of the LPIs prison system and deep strikers into Rheinland territory. The Xenos of the north, of Colorado, New York and such tend to enjoy a somewhat more methodical approach, conducting surgical strikes whilst maintaining a priority over message and effect. This methodical nature has evolved from the near loss of the Colorado system to the LPI following years of ineffectual raids conducted without true coordination within a region of space that is heavily patrolled.
While the borderworlds and vast expanses of impoverished Texas allow for leeway in the utilization of blunt force, the core of Liberty, California and the wealthy hub of elitism that is Colorado do not.
The number of Xeno bases and locals has grown substantially with the latest release. The impact and place of the new bases in Pennsylvania and Ontario havent yet been fully mapped out. The potential is there for good times.
The Xenos are somewhat more lenient on domestic concerns, as now reinforced in our IDs prohibition against Universal Shipping *grumbly grumble* and assaults upon Libertonians. Though that leniency translates as a willingness to provide quarter rather than partake in the wholesale slaughter of Libertonians. DSE and Universal should be provided a grudging berth.
The pirate groups of Liberty; Rogues, Hackers, Outcasts, Junkers and so on are not tolerated. Their methods and goals are anathema to the Xeno movements. From the peddling of poison, slave trading to the conducting of piracy they operate out of a base of greed and self indulgence as opposed to the restoration of the livelihoods of millions. As such the Xenos are truly alone within Liberty. Hunted by the police and pirates alike they maintain their war beset on all sides.
A. Quick Recap:
1) The Xenos, or Knights of Labor, operate under the goals of applying political pressure via terrorist strikes, spreading their message and harrying foreign shipping.
2) The Xenos place a tactical priority on the destruction of foreign shipping over military targets. Their goals are to spread a political message, not throw their limited resources at vastly superior forces.
3) Xenos do not demand- credits. We are not pirates. Trade vessels encountered may be demanded to surrender their cargo if they are hauling, if they are empty, feel free to simply bring them within a hairs breath of death. We are here to strike fear gentlemen, when they see Xenos on the scanner I want them to know that theyre going to come out of it bleeding.
Be brutal, relentless, but always remain within the guideline of server rules. We do not have terrorist IDs.
B. Combat priorities:
0) We are neutral with the Zoners, IMG, Freelancers and the Order. With Freelancers employ your best judgment. Be wary of indie Zoners and IMG, as they are often ignorant. If you spot any of those pilots trafficking in cardamine or slaves feel free to operate as standard. We are neutral to them, not puppets. A slave trading Zoner is as filthy as a Junker slaver.
1) Foreign opponents such as the Rheinland Military, or a superior pirate force take priority over the LPI/LN.
2) If you encounter a mixed group of police/pirates, employ your best judgement.
3) Universal, Cryer, Synthfood and DSE transports are the be approached based on best judgment. Ageira is not to be given quarter.
4) The only good Junker is a dead Junker.
C) Area of operations
1) Liberty
2) Liberty Borderworlds
3) Liberty bordering side of Hamburg
4) Liberty bordering side of Shikoku
5) Liberty bordering side of Magellan and Cortez
6) Coronado is stretching our reach, but pursuit into this region and venturing to secure arms is not out of bounds.
D) Establishing a Xeno
1) Secure a Xeno bribe on Ames Research, in the Kepler system.
2) The entirety of the Xenos armory is located in Tau-45, to which the gate is located in Kepler at 6-B.
3) If you are inexperienced, poor or simply need simple rep, head to Colorado. Ouray is located at 6 C-D and maintains simple missions for new pilots.
4) Nome base in Kepler is a great place to rep up a bomber, due to the large number of basekill missions.
5) The Xeno Guard ID can be secured in Tau-45 at the Alamo. The Xeno ID at Ouray in Colorado.
To wrap this up, the Xenos are a rather unique and deep faction within Discovery. It is simple to undock a Xeno Eagle replete with Widows to go orbit Manhattan and shout out a few yeehaws. One may do this with any faction, to be fair. However, to fully employ the full depth of the factions potential for character and environmental development can be very challenging. You are beset on all sides, you have no allies, you have no cap support. There is no army coming to save your ass.
Which is why theyre fun.
The Xenos are not hicks. They know how to work with their hands. Theyre powerlift operators, miners, ship welders, prisoners and the desperate. Their backgrounds can be virtually anything you imagine them to be. Mine is a elementary school teacher who ended up on the wrong end of the system. Del flies as an ex LN pilot. JihadJoes was a product of the sprawling slum hives of Manhattans pits. We come from every quarter and every background.
Do not limit your imagination.
I hope this primer is of some help, feedback would be appreciated and comments will be received warmly. Updates to this primer are doubtless in order.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the XA and our roleplay. The life of a Xeno is not an easy one. We are beset on all sides with hostility and hatred. From the House police and military, to the mercs, to the bloodthirsty pirate factions, we meet them all on the killing fields in Space. We have no allies, no back-alley treaties to fall back on, and no safe havens in which to land but our own.
Our methods of terrorism and piracy differ from that of all others. Our ideas and beliefs are what dictates how we pirate. We are not in this for the money. We DO NOT accept credits when we pirate. Our orders are simple... Drop your cargo and you will live, although you will get to witness us destroying said cargo right in front of you. We do this because our main concern is the stop of ALL inbound and outbound cargo in Liberty. We are fighting for the common man, the blue-collar worker, that has been oppressed by the Liberty Government. Our aim is to keep all outsourced jobs right here in Liberty, where they belong. The halt of trade incoming and outgoing creates more jobs for the citizens of Liberty, which is our ultimate goal.
All traders passing through our Space will find that none of us are "2milordai" lol goofballs. We excel at roleplay and will give you the opportunity to have quite the experience with us. Cooperating traders will undoubtedly come out better than uncooperative ones. If you try to run, or do not respond, you can expect to be destroyed. Traders agreeing with our demands usually leave without a scratch, and exceptional RPers come out even better. (Just the other day, a Samura transport was halted by us in Colorado. Some excellent RP ensued, and he was allowed to leave not only undamaged, but with half his cargo. He also received a 1 million credit transfer from me to soften his loss.)
Now in the above example, you can see that I did not profit in the least, his cargo was destroyed, and I even spent 1 mil of my own credits. This is what we are about, not the mindless terrorist killing machines that some would have you believe.
But remember this well, we are poor, and when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. Our pilots are highly trained and given the fact that our ships are on the lower end of the stick, do not underestimate our abilities to use them well. We fight with pride, we fight with spirit. If you do not stand up with us, then you are an enemy to be educated.
We are The Knights Of Labor.
You ask me why Im weary, why I cant speak to you.
You blame me for my silence, say Its time I changed and grew.
But the war's still going on dear, and theres no end that I know...
And I cant say if were ever...
I cant say if were ever gonna be free.
