From: David Masterson, IMG Guildmaster
To: Council of Zoners
Oh great council,
I apologise for troubling you once more over Omega-49, however, my miners have run into difficulties. It appears the Corsairs, namely the Brotherhood, consider Omega-49 to be their space, and are demanding we pay 50 million per week in protection fees, lest we come to an unfortunate end.
Now, I'm unsure as to the Council thoughts on this, however I would hope that, considering our close relations, the Zoners would be somewhat outraged by this. However, we do respect your neutrality and understand if you do not wish to anger the Corsairs, whom also share space with you. If this is the case, I'm afraid I must insist on moving a portion of the IMG battlefleet into Omega-49, for the protection and security of our mining operations there.
Yours,
David Masterson, Guildmaster of the Independent Miner's Guild

That is indeed troubling news. Already we've been having issues with the Corsairs in Omega-3, and recently installed a capital ship ban around Freeport 1 for any non-Zoner ships. Further measures are being voted on as we speak. However, most of that is being caused by the Omega Pirates Guild and Corsairs unaffiliated with the major families.
That a leading Corsair family, The Brotherhood, thinks that Omega-49 is their territory is going way too far. And choosing now, when the entire Corsair nation is in danger of losing all friendly relations with us, speaks of a lack of reason on the part of their pilots or leadership, whoever it is that decided to attempt this act.
If the Corsairs continue this disrespect for the Zoners, perhaps further repercussions are in order to open their eyes. But even though the Corsairs have threatened your mining efforts, I do not think we can condone the IMG bringing in a fleet to Omega-49. Possibly a few Gunboats. If more is needed, larger ships can be left at the Hood in Dublin, where they can be brought to Omega-49 only when necessary.
If The Brotherhood insists on taxing the Mining Guild, its possible we could allow more of your ships in as security, but at the moment such an act would be hasty. For now, I can have the Syros, a carrier, move out to Omega-49 and use it to protect any mining operations. With a recent increase of ships coming to Freeport 1 to enforce the capital ship ban, the Syros isn't as badly needed as before. It can take up station by Gran Canaria while we open diplomatic discussion with the Corsair Council over both this and the situation in Omega-3.
Greetings council, i assume as David already stated we were in a small dilema with the corsairs, if you do not beleive him, or you think he's exagerating...see for your self, here in this message i've included a few bits and pieces of the "Conversation" we had with the corsairs from my ship's Communication's Log, i think you'll see them as self explanatory

Has this been truely brought to the council yet? If so, I can station my cruiser out in that system if the council requires it to keep an eye on the situation. It is currently located at FP11, but moving it will not be to much of a hassle.

//darn, i really need to register that char with the council. I'll see about doing that later this evening when I get the RP story completely together and posted.
The Trailblazer has been moved to dublin, and we would like permission to move into the Omega 49 system to defend our miners against both phantoms and corsairs.
We will not intefere with anyone else, and will keep out of sight at most times.
assuming that the "The Trailblazer" you are allowed to enter O-49
only, and really only when your Gunboats cant handle it,or when no
Zoner Guard is available,
at the moment we have many guards nearby Omega 49
the following ships are in or near Omega 49
I.K.S.Vor'cha (Commander Matok)
Alcmaria Vitrix (Chairman J.Archer)
Syros (Aurelia Silvan)

My thanks Mr Archer, the Trailblazer is the Research and Development Battlecruiser. We shall only engage corsair capital ships, unless no other ships are available to defend our miners and traders.
