Tenuous Situation At Rheinland's Border
NEW BERLIN -As military operations are well underway in Coronado, on the other side of Sirius, Rheinland and the Corsairs are ever-increasing raids into and near the contested Munich and Xi systems. Our reporters in Rheinland have, however, brought news of a steady increase in such incidents in the recent months.
Who are the Corsairs, and, what are they fighting for? -A nation at large carved upon the shoulders of fanatical warriors, the Corsairs represent some of the best pilots in the sector and are well-trained at utilizing hit-and-run tactics, as well as raids, to both efficiently plunder commerce routes and cause chaos in any regions they are present in.
While their goals differ from region to region, the Corsairs have tried and succeeded many times in contesting the border regions of Rheinland due to the presence of important resources and therefore high-value targets. In this mission, the Rheinland Military grows increasingly dire both due to a lack of resources and as a consequence of the tactics employed by the Corsair raiders.
Why has the conflict escalated? -Although the Corsairs have not yet been seen targeting installations within the fringe regions of Rheinland, the Rheinland Military has deployed several cruisers to the Munich system in hopes of cracking down on the ever-present raiders. This does not come without a cost, however, as Rheinland is facing an increasing number of incursions from other outlawed organizations elsewhere just as much.
In return, BBC confirms that the Corsairs have already begun bringing several squadrons of bombers within Rheinland proper, a move that has caused even more assets to be deployed by the Military in the region. While no capital ships have been damaged significantly thus far, it remains unclear for how long they will be able to fend off the strong-willed Corsair pilots.
Can the conflict spill over into another region or more? -As the escalation continues on the Munich frontier, the threat that such a sight will be normalized has already caused reactions by the Admiralty Board of the Armed Forces of Bretonia, which has stated in an earlier press release that 'Bretonia stands ready to assist Rheinland should the situation in the Omegas become highly unstable'.
Though the Corsairs have completed large scale incursions into Nottingham in the past, the attention has recently shifted to Dublin instead, where Stokes remain in an unfavorable location, defended only by the Battleship Essex. There, Corsairs and Mollys have claimed victories not only against one another, but also against BMM and the Armed Forces.
