Personally I wasn't playing for months due to RL troubles. My ISP is kinda the worst to exist on Earth(and not only Earth), so I had no chance to fill my bank before the .85 and get ready for transition.
Well, of course, I've tried to keep the characters alive. Once I failed and I got like ~20/40 wiped for inactivity. (Approx damage in credits - 800 mil)Fine, I've thought I'll remake them in 4.85 because they have unfinished RP behind them and I can't just let them go. Recently, last Thursday to be precise, I return to playing and what do I see? I see no ability to regain at least half of my chars at all.
I've tried multiple ways to. Mining - No. You're not able to get THAT huge bunch of guys to get a good profit. Trading - no for sure. Mostly you meet lolpirates, that is all. I'd be more happy if there was RP all around. You see the same places all the time, you fly in these places again and again. It gets extremely boring. Shooting NPC's containers and taking the cargo? No. You can't sell it for good prices. Pirating? No. No one will give you that much money. If anyone has a decent way to get cash - please, tell me. Plus, I constantly get more and more RP ideas, and I need a lot of credits to realise them and the cash is very hard to get now.
"ERR Temporarily out of stock" really pisses off sometimes.
I honestly didn't know you could do that with FLHook.
Perhaps now we can limit cargo by ship-type? *evil grin*
enough whining about the trade system. Yeah, it's in flux. Yeah, that can be a pain. Yeah, everything now (seems to) cost more since the value of credits went up. Yeah, HEARD THIS ALL BEFORE.
If you've done any amount of exploring/trading, then you're character's commodities lists change with the mod, and you have a profit-loss list right there at every base. Pick something that sells higher somewhere else, and fly there. Hey, you're at another base...repeat.
and repeat
and repeat.
Doesn't mean there's a ROUTE per say, but perhaps eventually you'll discover (i know, that word's somehow taboo) one. And when the mod's finalized and you still have some gripe of some sort, then might be the time to whinge about it.
I've personally got 5 fighters, two gunships, one liner, one transport, and one repair ship (keep that thing in regens!). Yeah, it's expensive now. I agree with global and those that have the ammo problem...ammo's way too pricey, and I've expressed that before. I can't find a real reason it costs 6k to shoot of a nuke mine, 1/2 million to load it full-up. Combat is going to occur (devs, I'm talking to you) no matter how much you try to nerf it. At least cut the prices of some of the higher-end missiles, CMs, CDs, and mines by half?
Why all the calculations? "This leg doesn't make me 157 credits per second..." blah blah blah. simple economics states if you sell for more than you paid for it, you'll make money. shocking. Time limitations are a pain yes, but you'll just have to make due...everyone else does. I personally get online for maybe 6-8 hours a week, and probably 2/3 of that time is spent on my trader(s). It's how I keep going. It's how I deal with it.
As for piracy, I run into a lot of them. 2m is a lot of money these days. Perhaps instead of asking for 6m (PvP violation in my opinion) or other outrageous fees, ask for something reasonable, or even *gasp* wait for the trader to respond. be amenable to a reduction. It's better to get 750k from a trader than nothing (unless you're in it for teh lulz, then there's no hope for you). You don't have to cut your asking price to 150k, but maybe if you started at 1m instead, things would work out better for BOTH parties.
Problem is there's probably 2 pirates for every trader, and these guys all demand 2-3 million for "safe passage" (hah! ensure my safety then), and us traders end up spending 10m for one leg and end up at a loss...you see why so many now are willing to just die? it's CHEAPER! adjust your gaming and we'll probably adjust ours.
It's called change people. It happens all the time. If you don't like it, go play on a 4.84 server somewhere else.

How is this different than you needing the credits to finance your fighters? It's just a different ship class, same problem.
' Wrote:Divine you are on a roleplay server here.
This is not about abusing exploits.
I have helped the dev team to collect data in the pre new mod stated and i know by exploring the new routes that this all is very hard work.
Beside that, why do you need that much credits?
Okay, are here ANY people around really reading what others wrote....
Your post suggest that this has not happened here...
Iam not up to abuse exploits, nor did I in the past or wish to do in future.
Exploits needs to be removed for the sake of the server and all around playing here...
But you said it, -THIS- is a roleplay-server and excuse me, that I dont want to roleplay a trader for 3 months just to start my intented roleplay.
And why I need that much credits.... I guess globalplayer-svk's post made it quite obvious...
Trading for me is just a way to continue with the roleplay on my other characters...
And really, I think there are much more players around who dont give a crap about RP-routes or interacting while trading, cause they really just need the money to buy their capships...
I take my time and try to make all fitting RP and even used to interact with others while trading most every time I encounter someone... whoever it is.

The difference is that those trade to buy their capship/fighters and I trade to maintain my capship/fighters...
If you want to make a flamefest, leave Xoria out of it. He's spent more time on the commodity system than you can imagine and since I was already checking out some smuggling routes for the Lane Hackers and getting hold of trader routes around Liberty, I know quite a bit and....
I like the way it is now. It's certainly much better than before. yes there are problems, there will be errors, but go cry in the corner unless you actually come up with something that can help. Thank you very much.
Now that's just about all I need to say in a thread started with such attitude.
