I was just thinking, being that Newcastle is gargantuan and all. Right now the Gaians have two clumps of bases - Edinburg/Lewis and Newcastle/Manchester. In the middle sits Leeds. So I had the following suggestion:
Put a jumphole from somewhere around here:
To somewhere around here:
Or, if not, perhaps something like here:
It doesn't really seem like it would mess with traderoutes much, being the gate is right there, but it allows unlawfuls in the area (was thinking Gaians, but Mollys would be in the same boat) to get there without either trekking throughout everywhere or using the jumpgate.
Something of that sort anyway. At the very least, trying to get a conversation going is good, yes?
Yes please! Right now it takes far too much time for Gaians to travel from Islay to Skye without using the Leeds->Newcastle Gate. We're forced into long hauls across Tau-31 and Newcastle, or treks across multiple systems! (Edin->Dublin->Chester->Newcastle)
As Ktayn said, this shouldn't effect trade routes because of the jumpgate to Leeds, unless using the hole will get you to PL leeds or Stokes from Skye faster than using the gate. Just make sure it's far enough from Skye that that is not the case.
Aye, this seems like a logical idea. I mean, Newcastle is huge and it should have more stellar objects, such as jumpholes. And with such a large system, trading certainly wouldn't pose a problem.
Also, better than seeing pirates going through Jumpgates, really.
Edinburgh -> Dundee -> Newcastle could work for the Gaians.
I wouldn't mind a new hole there though. Bretonia has holes like a Swiss cheese in it already, what will be one more.

Was that hole there before? In any case, that may work, though given the location, it's probably like a 120k cruise. Plus the heavy cavalry in Dundee (or is the BS elsewhere? I can't remember, I'll check).
