From: Finnean MacRory To: Sirius freelancers Point of origin: Planet California Minor Subject: Proposition Encrpytion key: 5#łew85d€
Greetings my fellow freelancers,
my name is Finnean MacRory and I appologize for contacting you in such crude manner. No one wants to be spammed by messages from some random guy, but this is by far the easiest way to reach out to you. I'll try to make it short, and if you don't reply, I won't bother you again, so please, bear with me.
As freelancers, we have a freedom to go where we want, do what we want (and sometimes face consequences of our actions should they anger somenone) and that's all nice and great, but we are also a rather small fish in a vast ocean filled with giant whales. As such, our options and our potential contracts are ultimately limited and thus is our freedom of action. What is it worth to be able to trade across sirius when a corporations will monopolize whole market sectors, denying access to it to everyone but them and their partners? Who will hire a single freelancer escort when Bounty hunters, DrengrCo and others can provide whole squadrons? I think you all have experienced it, being denied a profitable shipement in favour of some corp captain or your escort offer being declined as insufficent or insignificant and many other things small and large. I have experienced it too and this proposition stems from those experiences.
Sirius sector is full of freelancers. We have the capability to cover large supply demands, provide escort and patrol services in large groups, but we don't. Because we, by the deffinition, are a splintered bunch. Each and every one of us is looking for jobs on his own and that's all fine, but we could do so much more. To be vacuum clear, I don't propose founding our own trade corporation, security company or any such thing. We would cease being freelancers by doing that. What I propose is creating a network, a sort of union if you will, which could negotiate contracts, docking rights, trade agreements and such on behalf of it's members. Station may not want to hire a single freelancer for it's supply needs, because a corporation can offer a full fleet of transport ships. But offer them a contract with a whole network of freelancers, unburdened by the limitations and bureaucracy of corporation, and they just might accept. We have a lot to offer, we just need to be heard.
But this message is already much longer then I wanted, so I'll stop there. If what I propose sounds interesting to you, feel free to use this channel to send me message, I'll happilly discuss the details of my idea with anyone interested.
