General Overview
'Das Wilde', or 'The Wild', is the term utilized by people in Sirius to describe the Infiltrator Caste of the Nomads. While they share a significant amount of knowledge and information and are both part of the K'Hara, Das Wilde has, since the events of the campaign, 'split' into two groups, each with greater or lesser autonomy to operate than that other: The Infiltrator Caste, controlled directly by the K'Hara, and the more independent Die Wilde Jagd, or The Wild Hunt.
The Infiltrator Caste are a strict force under the direct guidance of an Advisor in the K'Hara mindshare. Their influence holds Heaven's Gate, Stockton Depot, Lausanne Complex, Shonan Base, and Altair Research Complex, along with assorted regional flagships. Their directives and actions are directly coordinated with the greater Mindshare, the Advisor Council, and the Keepers Caste.
On the other hand, Die Wilde Jagd represent the Rheinland Infiltrators. They have no Advisor, and operate with relative autonomy in regards to the greater Mindshare. Their influence is Valhalla Shipyard, Kaarst Drydock, and the flagship Battlecruiser Trier. Their directives and actions are solely theirs, and even the Mindshare struggles to understand the logics that guide their actions. Though they ultimately dedicate themselves to the Mindshare's greater good, the path they take there is chaotic and confusing. They are responsible for the horrors of the Hybrids, the formation and subsequent collapse of Drake, and the widespread destruction of the Omega-58 System, among other things.
First Contact
Pre-800 AS
The first humans to succumb to the Nomads were a group of scientists excavating a site in the Omicron systems, in 795 AS. Through them, the Nomads began working their way through various other agencies and corporations, eventually even infecting Chancellor Florian Gustav Niemann, the entirety of the Rheinland Military's High Command and Daumann Heavy Constructions' CEO, Wolfgang Daumann. These first individuals -- at first likely numbering less than 50 -- formed the backbone of Das Wilde and helped put the building blocks towards a takeover of Sirius by the Nomads.
Initially, the efforts were concentrated around Planet Weimar and Planet Skagen, both listed as major DK outposts or waystations. Thuringia, with Weimar at its center, was transformed into the 'home' of the Rheinland Wild, with Valhalla shipyard reactivated and put into use. Just a mere stone throw away, in Frankfurt's Westerwald, Niemann's forces also began work on the scaffolding that would house several Nomad warforms in preparation for the coming storm. Meanwhile, on Skagen, two power cells were excavated, however just one was salvaged and relocated onto Weimar, with the other exploding.
These events happened as the same time as another group of Das Wilde ventured into the Omegas, rediscovering Omega-58, a DK transit hub. By then, it was little more than a graveyard for the abandoned technologies; Bottrop Depot is constructed within the system as a base for survey expeditions, in orbit of one of the 5 Alien Gates in Omega-58.

The Colony Wars
800-801 AS
The rapid pace of the Nomad takeover of Rheinland meant they had little time to waste and thus had to immediately set out towards the next phase: massive militarization of Rheinland with the aim of invading the other Houses.
Through the Chancellor, the Nomads awarded Daumann with major shipbuilding contracts; the ships that were produced from these militarization programed, however, were cheaply made, 80 Years War-era warships. Nevertheless, quantity would be the name of the game, with Rheinland, in just 1 year, producing dozens of new battleships and hundreds of cruisers and gunboats.
At the same time as Rheinland was pouring all its resources into the military, Admiral Schultzky planned a visit to meet President Jacobi on Manhattan. Unbeknownst to Liberty, this was little more than an attempt to infect Jacobi and turn her over to the Nomad cause; the attempt failed as The Order ambushed and destroyed the admiral's flagship, the RNC Donau.
The death of Admiral Schultzky was a major blow to the efforts of the Nomads
The sudden and unexpected death of Schultzky at the hands of The Order sent shockwaves throughout the Colonies, and more importantly, it forced the Nomads to change their plans drastically. No longer would they try to simply infiltrate the various governments, militaries and local groups, now they would bring the battle to them as well.
Although Niemann's forces would spread out in the Colonies into smaller mobile battlegroups, from Cambridge to the Taus and to the Sigmas, the Nomads concentrated their efforts on Kusari and Liberty.
Citing recent border clashes and a supposed build-up of forces behind the Honshu Jump Gate, the Rheinland Northern Fleet entered the near Sigmas and then invaded Kusari itself, crushing the defenders and marching on into New Tokyo itself. This happened not longer after the death of Lord Tekagi, a powerful character in the Shogunate's politics and one turned Niemann ally -- his demise marked the total breakdown of relations prior to the Kusari - Rheinland War.
Much less luck was initially at play during the invasion of Liberty; Nomad control over the Republic was minimal during the first Rheinland strikes into California, but slowly and surely spreading amongst the prominent figures. Niemann's forces, using advanced cloaking devices, entered New York at the same time as the Northern Fleet made its way into Kusari and launched a devastating attack inside Zone-21, prompting President Jacobi to declare war. The closing stages of the Colony Wars were chaotic, with many senior figures being assassinated either by the Nomads or by The Order and its associates, with the latter even killing Chancellor Niemann during a raid into the secretive Alaska system.

Die Wilde Jagd
801 AS - Present Day
Neither the invasion of Kusari, nor the surgical strikes inside Liberty would end in eventual success due to the activation of the hypergate, draining their energy reserve, damaging the Dyson Sphere energy conduit system, scattering a portion of the Nomads to the other end of the hypergate, and destroying the hivemind.
Reeling from the loss, the Northern Fleet used their large concentration of incubus bodies and access to the small amount of energy gained from human metabolism to reform an emergency local mindshare. Over the following weeks, it assimilated whatever uninfected personnel remained, returned to Thuringia and resumed excavations on Weimar. Unfortunately for them, this state of affairs lasted very briefly, with The Purge of Thuringia -- a joint Order - MND invasion -- initiated in 802 AS via the Frankfurt system. With little choice but to retreat the Northern Fleet's most valuable assets to Omega-58 and deactivating them until a future point in time, Das Wilde chose a policy similar to the one employed by the Hessians of Dresden and Corsairs of Gamma, that of hit-and-run type attacks but with the additional mass use of cloaking devices. As the final Wilde holdouts on Weimar were eliminated in 806 and 807, the beginnings of the Hybrid projects were started with research on the use of connecting Nomad organs and growths to control otherwise inaccessible systems such as human and DK machines.
A centerpiece of this 'revitalized' Wild movement of the late 800s and early 810s was the extensive use of cloaking devices and ambush strategy, from which they gained the moniker Die Wilde Jagd, given to them by Hessian survivors who likened the sudden violence and subsequent disappearance to the Wild Hunt from ancient Sol folklore. The reformed mind was quick to adopt this moniker as an identity, and with such a mythological influence on the mind the Wild's means by which they pursued their ends became more and more obscure, esoteric, and at certain points have even seemed to be religious. These changes would fully come to light in the magnum opus of the Hybrid projects: The Scorpion Gunboat and the Hybrid Footsoldiers. In 814, the first Scorpion gunboats were deployed, twisted amalgams of human machine, Nomad structural matter, and human nervous system, followed closely by the Hybrid Footsoldiers, an impressive display of body horror made by modifying and "improving" human bodies with Nomad additions. The primary goal of these projects was to reduce their energy footprint during a time when they had little they could afford to lose. However, these projects are thought to have been achievable without the integration of human body material. Perhaps a secondary goal was a sadistic psychological harm of whatever remained of the human conscious in the infested individuals, or the same to any soul unfortunate enough to witness them, such as the MND reconnaissance force that was deployed to Omega-58 in 808, which was subsequently unceremoniously annihilated. Further reconnaissance attempts would be abandoned, but skirmishes would continue for years.
By the turn of 815, the DK Power Cell obtained from Weimar during the years of the Northern Fleet's occupation of Thuringia would begin converting mass from the system into energy. This influx of energy would not only feed Die Wilde Jagd, but also Nomads across the entire Sirius sector. The increased Wilde activity would lead Bundschuh and Hessian forces to recognize the threat posed, and begin taking active steps to combat them. The Rheinland Government later issued public advisories about “Wild” ships, with the claim that they were defected Northern Fleet ships turned to piracy. Hearing of this, the Order massed a fleet in Omicron Theta capable of cleansing Omega-58 just as they had Thuringia so many years before. However, they had not accounted for the newly energized Nomads in the Omicrons using that energy to reactivate a vast array of warforms, and the subsequent assault and crushing of the Order Garrison over the Dyson Sphere. With loss of control over Omicron Major, the Order retreated the amassed fleet in Omicron Theta to Omicron Minor, and would continue to send many recapture efforts, none gaining ground.
With the Dyson Sphere and its contained star recaptured, along with the core-tapping of Xernia, the Omicron Nomads would gain enough energy to reform a unified Mindshare, folding all localized mindshares into it, with the exception of Die Wilde Jagd. Altair Research Complex would then be reactivated, and the Omicron Nomads, now referred to simply as K'Hara, would utilize the work of Die Wilde Jagd to create Nomad derivatives of the DK Power Cell.
In 817, the Liberty-Rheinland war, sparked by Infiltrators from K'Hara, would prompt Die Wilde Jagd to remove all limitations on the DK Power Cell with the hopes of powering the Bottrop Gate enough to take the entire Northern Fleet remnants through it to take advantage of the war. The Power Cell, however, catastrophically fails, destroying Omega 58's star, and opening an incredibly powerful wormhole that would drag what it could capture from the system through to the Drake system. After the end of the Bottrop Gate's activation sequence, the massive amount of remaining energy would be deposited to the K'Hara, granting them an enormous amount of power which they would use to invade Omicron Minor during a Core assault and destroy Toledo along with sizeable portions of the Order and Core fleets. After this, for the purpose of coordination, Die Wilde Jagd would connect themselves to the K'Hara Mindshare. Recognizing their incredible achievements and usefulness, however, K'Hara would give them almost complete autonomy to continue acting as they have been.

Miscellaneous
Zone of Influence
We operate based on the Rheinland Wild ID, which means you'll find our ships in Rheinland, the Omegas, the Omicrons, systems bordering these regions, but also at times in places where Wild or Nomad bases are located.
Recruitment
The current iteration is open towards new recruits, however it works based off of a trial system through the Discord server instead of maintaining an open recruitment channel on the forums. You may reach out to any individuals with the Advisory Council role in our server and ask to be put into the trial phase. You may also be invited into the faction if you have roleplayed with us on a Rheinland character as a Wild indie.
Once you receive the role, we will look at your roleplay done around Rheinland alongside us and invite you on frequent patrols or raids together for roughly 3-4 days. Despite this, we nevertheless will judge people on a case-by-case basis.
Faction Rules
1) Local and System chats are to be InRP at all times while in game;
2) If you can, stay alive. This however doesn't mean 'go and gank people for the sake of it';
3) Play according to your ID (especially in regards to engage transports);
4) Don't reply to forum threads about us. We don't need needless drama;
5) Scorpion Gunboats must always have a Wilde.Name format, other ship names can be at a player's discretion;
6) Be helpful to new players.
Formed after the resolution of the Rheinland Civil War in 828 A.S., the Special Unit Stulingen marks a departure from the typical MND units, solely tasked with the broad field of "Gefahrenabwehr" ("Hazard Control") to ensure the continued survival of the new, albeit fragile Rheinland state. Named after the moon of Planet Holstein where the "Holstein Accords" were signed , the "Sondereinheit Stulingen" could be understood as a symbol and desire for stability.
Due to financial constraints post the Civil War, brought together the Special Unit by recruiting from various existing units within Rheinland's lawful authorities.
What the Unit Command and MND High Command didn't anticipate was a resurgence of an issue thought to be contained - Das Wilde. In the chaos after the civil war, previously infected personnel successfully reintegrated into Rheinland's military structures. Unbeknownst to outsiders, Special Unit Stulingen, in particular, saw a high concentration of compromised individuals, hinting at Das Wilde's intention to exploit the unit's natural mobility and secrecy to exert its influence on Rheinland once again.
By the year 833 A.S., individuals among the Unit Command were subverted by the Nomad thralls and prominent figureheads such as Stabskapitänleutnant Franz Jäger and Kreuzerkapitän Erik von Strauss started to push for the sizable expansion of the Units size, citing urgent developments in the Dresden system and "risk assessments" showing "incapability of the Rheinwehr" to operate as required.
Although the unit's presence sometimes raises suspicions and tensions with regular authority units over its detached nature and overall ominous code of conduct (including all-time flight with turned off transponders), Das Wilde so far managed to avoid detection through various methods: Subjugate those who detected them, silence them permanently or even deliver their own thralls to the blade to protect mission integrity.

Internal Structure
Due to its nature as a division pieced together from various institutions, Special Unit Stulingen operates following a standard rank classification system. Although these ranks bear little meaning on the inside except for the command itself, they are actively used for identification purposes around regular Rheinland authority vessels.
Kreuzerkapitän (Cruiser Captain): The Kreuzerkapitän is the acting Direktor of the Special Unit and thus unsurprisingly a rare sight.
Korvettenkapitän (Corvette Captain): As flexibility restricts usage of warships and the main strike groups are often spearheaded by "Oder"-class Gunboats, the Korvettenkapitän represents the battlefield commander and wing leader for operations deemed crucial. Their order is absolute towards other units.
Stabskapitänleutnant (Staffcaptain Lieutenant): The highest rank of a warrant officer, the SKL fulfils similar objectives to the Corvette Captain, although for much smaller operations and general patrol duties only. Unlike the Corvette Captain's orders, SKL issued orders may be challenged by Captain Lieutenants on scene.
Kapitänleutnant (Captain Lieutenant): Serving as snub craft wing leaders or principal warfare officers on an "Oder"-class, the Captain Lieutenant represents the link between Stulingen's commanders and its swift task force units.
Oberleutnant: They are experienced pilots who are either unfit to lead, still in training to do so or simply do not wish to climb the rank ladder. The most common sight within the Unit, similar to how it is within the rest of Rheinlands military authorities. Since the Special Unit Stulingen requires capable people, only those of Oberleutnant or above ranks have been integrated, marking Oberleutnant as the entry rank of the division.
