Firstly, I was amazed and confounded by the answer that you received from the BAF Admiralty, and I can assure you that this response does not speak for the Bretonian people.
I too was there during the hasty and chaotic evacuation of Leeds and I personally witnessed the heroic efforts of your people in that time of dire need. You did that which was right in the face of terrible odds, and as both a Bretonian and a native of Leeds, you and your comrades have my personal respect and admiration. Many of the peoples of Bretonia would like the answers which you seek regarding those who either joined your ranks under that situational duress, or may now be captives. Many want the peace of knowing, even if the facts are unpleasant.
Unfortunately, many of those who likely penned or signed off on the response to your inquiry are flaccid bureaucrats and/or aristocratic toadies. They do not speak for Bretonia at large on this subject. The search for truthful answers to such an important matter should not be so difficult to obtain, yet I would urge you to keep trying. I believe that word will spread regarding your quest to end these long-standing questions for which many Bretonians desire an answer at last.
Hi there! Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you—like we discussed in space, there's a lot going on in Inverness right now. We really appreciate your info on the goings-on inside Bretonia, and would love to cooperate with you and anyone you might still know in the BIS to help them see reason.
It's really distressing how quickly the staff officers are ready to brand us as Insurgency, especially after all the Legion did do to fight them—they just lost. We're carefully composing our response, but with the LSF movements on Inverness, balancing care and urgency is hard. I'll be honest, coming to terms with the fact that Bretonia did not evacuate our people or even their own from Guadalajara the same we did from Leeds... kinda hurts. I really hope people like you are able to help them understand that they don't stand to benefit from this. I mean, we've even received overtures from the Mollys, of all people. To have those awful terrorists act more civilly than my own chosen home... ugh. But we aren't gonna stop trying, of course. I won't let these staff officers ruin a good thing for Her Majesty. Just gotta work together.
Do you have any idea how we can get through to them? Any suggestions at all, or any ability to use your own contacts to influence them?
Looking forward to hearing back,
Yoko Mori (she/they)
It is my belief that they would best be reached via continued engagement.
This is why I urged you to keep trying. Surely at least some among them correctly feel that the response you received was ill conceived, and my hope is that more staff officers will come around during discussions following additional overtures.
Perhaps word will even reach the palace itself, where the advisors therein may be more concerned about the terrible optics involved, given that many of your current legionnaires and many thousands of the people that you propose to rescue are Bretonian citizens, and victims of those that you mean to presecute.
In my opinion, a whisper campaign in your favor is inevitable, should you continue polite and reasonable requests. I know that there are many among the people of Bretonia that would like to know if any of their family are among the survivors in question.
Continuing to speak only may succeed, but failing to do so will certainly fail.
Yeah, I agree. It's frustrating, but gotta keep working at it. I'd definitely ask that you look into Royalist contacts, maybe sow the seeds in some trusted people about how Liberty is using Bretonia, remind them about Leeds, that sort of thing. Maybe also useful to tell them something like "hey, don't we want to get these people neutral so they don't end up siding with the Mollys like Auxo did?" We wouldn't do it, and it'd obviously come off really badly from us because it'd sound like a threat or something, but maybe from you the speculation might help people pay more attention.
I wish we hadn't got passed off to BAF. I was really hoping to talk to the government, not the military—especially to the Royalists. But oh well. We'll make do with what we have, yeah?
Looking forward to hearing back,
