I am reaching out regarding the recent acquisition of a Longhorn, which my delegates formalized with you a few days ago. I trust that the transaction, including the transfer of funds, was completed seamlessly.
I consider it somewhat impersonal to leave such matters entirely in the hands of bureaucrats, and so I wished to take this opportunity to personally introduce myself. My name is David Farina, and I have the honor of commanding the OS&C|TE-Svalbard. After years onboard our Democritus, I've realized that our old, faithful journey companion wasn't suitabile anymore for her task. Sirius is now more unsafe than ever, and the Democritus to fragile to withstand the menaces that lurks in the dark corners of every Houses, not mentioning what's hiding outside of them. Therefore, my crew and I require a vessel capable of venturing into the most remote and potentially hazardous regions of the Sector with full autonomy and security. Following a brief discussion with our director, Mme Cross, we elected to place our trust in your esteemed craftmanship, long renowned for its commitment to durability and engineering excellence.
Beyond this introduction, I would also appreciate some further clarification regarding our new vessel:
Interiors: Your technicians have assured us of the modular nature of both the cargo hold and living quarters. Would it be possible to optimize the available space to accommodate four OS&C luxury modular cabins (each measuring 40x40x4 meters, stackable if necessary)?
Armament: While we have no inclination toward conflict, safeguarding the vessel and its crew remains paramount. We seek a defensive armament suite capable of ensuring our security against threats up to gunboat-class vessels. What configuration would you deem most suitable for this purpose?
Collaboration: If there is any way we might assist in the construction process, do let us know. We have reserve transports at our disposal and would be more than willing to facilitate the delivery of any materials or components that might expedite completion.
Timeline: might you provide an estimate as to when the vessel will be ready for launch?
Looking forward to your response, I wish you a good evening
I apologize for us keepin' busy, but I did finally get around to your message. I hope you're enjoyin' the vessel, and now I can tell you a bit about it so that you may put it to the best use you can.
First of all, we tried our best with the modified interior, but the engineerin' team was leery about puttin' too much stress on the mainline. You should be fine to fill about 2/3rds of the available cargo space with them cabins, but the rest will need to consist of smaller goods. I'm sure you folks have plenty of cargo laid by for such eventualities, so I'll leave the details up to you.
As you may not be aware, there are both removable panels and side brackets for securin' the cargo. It's all in the detailed schematic, but I understand many of our buyers don't make use of it. That may help you streamline the cargo set-up, but you'll still need to be careful about spreadin' the loads.
Now regardin' the guns. We've found that the standard civilian PDCs do the job just fine, but I'm guessin' you ain't askin' just about those. The Longhorn is most vulnerable to vessels of its own class and lighter, so I'd suggest volley fire throwers on both the fore and aft mounts. The ravager-class mines often seal the deal in discouragin' close pursuit, which allows you to toss out some chaff and be out of there. In that regard, I'd suggest the heaviest over-engineered emitters. After all, you only need to get away once, eh?
I'm also glad you've offered to ship some of the materials, but we've had success in sourcin' thus far. Of course, that may have something to do with the incentives we've been offerin' to the haulers, heh. I know the shareholders toned it down a bit recently, but the Boss put his foot down and the deals are still solid. So if you need another one of them Longhorns, we can slot you in, and you won't need to worry any deliveries. But of course, the custom never hurts.
I hope you enjoy the vessel, and don't hesitate to contact us with any other questions!
What can I say? The newly christened OS&C|TE-Alaska is perfect. It has successfully passed all flight tests and our technical evaluations, exceeding our expectations by a significant margin.
I sincerely appreciate the work carried out in the cargo area. Indeed, our technicians had overestimated the size of the hold; nevertheless, three standard cabins are sufficient for the type of cruises we had envisioned.
Regarding the armament, we would require your assistance. We neither have the means nor the necessary components to install weapon systems that are more sophisticated and larger than the standard PDS/BSE-GEN batteries. Would it be possible to continue utilizing your services by renting one of your drydocks in Baltimore (or Susquehanna) for the installation operations?
I look forward to your response and wish you a great start to the week.
I'm sure you were able to solve your problem at the lower levels, though I'm always happy to assist in-person when I've got the time. However, the Boss has me runnin' multiple teams figurin' out the latest order batches, and I figured a resourceful fella like you could make his needs known to the foremen.
In the future, if you ever get some lip about queues, just wave your Longhorn VIM stock number in their face, and they'll slot you in real fast, eh? Otherwise, let us know if there's anything else we can assist with, and I'll do my best to connect you with the foremost local experts for the job.
