I followed a thread (dont know where it was) called something like "how to connect when the global server is down" that said to use the shortcut in the mod's folder. I use that shortcut, it launches the game, i can see the server in the MP list (this is the only server that shows), but I cant select it. The version number says 48.57 (i cant remember if 7 is the last digit). On the main screen it in the lower right i see my version is 4.84. So maybe that is the issue?
Is there a better way to do this? someone please point me in the right direction.
Judging by the posts you've made in General recently, Risiko, you seem to be having a remarkable amount of difficulty with Disco fundamentals.:P
Head to the link tazuras gives you in the post above mine. However, restore your backups (via the Tools option) BEFORE installing the 4.85 mod into FLMM! Reversing these two steps leads to an invariable game crash for me. Once the mod's unzipped, activate it and log on by selecting your desktop Freelancer shortcut.
' Wrote:Well I went to log in today and it is saying my version is out of date. I am launching the game with DS updater, and currently have v 4.85 beta 7.
How do you go about updating this without destroying the game and having to reinstall everything?
Gotta download the Final version under Mod Announcements.
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,

The new 4.85 final has come out.
Basically Beta 7 was the last beta that was publicly available it seems.
The 4.85 final is unfortunately not an automatic download but instead a manual one. So you will need to download it, open it up with FLMM as usual, de-activate the beta or restore backups (or both), activate the final, run freelancer.
You should find it all working.
Basically what Taz said.
