Alright, here's a quick challenge for those that know how to equate it, for I do not. For the uneducated, the answer may not be as obvious as they might think, so don't jump to conclusions, logical calculations need to be made but I need somebody who knows the variables to offer some insight. To the matter...
Take two identical transports, doesn't matter which, both with identical armour and loadouts. The only difference is that one has a standard Transport Graviton Shield (50k) and the other has the Advanced version (100k). In an equal environment thus without bias, assuming both begin firing at each other at exactly the same time and consistently until one is destroyed...which would win?
Well, they have the same regeneration rate, so the 100K one. Unless of course it couldnt actually bring down the sheild of the other one because it didnt have strong enough weapons, in that case, neither.
The smaller one uses much less energy to recharge so the transport using it can fire forever, it also pops back faster. So the smaller one might win. This depends on which 2 transports though cause some of them (like container transports) have so big powerplants that even big shield doesn't increase drain that much.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
Well assume the guns are Transport Turret Mk3, with maybe at least 6 turrets that's plenty of fire power to bring down even a Cruiser shield.
That's exactly where I'm looking at this from, Mjolnir. A good example would be the Pirate Transport since a) they have a lot of turrets and b) typical haulers shouldn't be shooting each other but opposing Pirts could. This ship definitely loses power when diverted to shields whilst firing, so I'm basically wondering if it's worthwhile using the lesser shield if it means being able to fire all turrets.
