i think that yah they should add sounds true that sounds dont travel in space and blah but it would just be cool:P

and i remember that vid on youtube ,21 secs to ,24 secs i think would make a great sound for torpedo or missiles when it launch

I think I should mention once again that, yes, you are correct, sound does not travel in space. Sound is a wave, and as such can only travel through a medium of some sort- like the exhaust from the missile's propulsion system, the barrel of your guns, a laser beam, or hull that one of those things hit. Freelancer does not, as far as I can tell, have things make sounds while they are flying at you. It makes sounds when you fire something (accurate) and when they hit something (also accurate). Technically speaking, granted, if you fired a missile from your ship to someone else's ship in open space and it hit them, you would only hear the firing unless it gave off one helluva smoke trail (possible but unlikely). But the person getting hit would hear the explosion when they got hit as opposed to the firing sound...

Unless there is a proposal for A) removing sound altogether so that you don't hear stuff you shouldn't even though that would mean you don't hear stuff you should, or B) fixing the source code so that you only hear the sound of weapons you fire, the sound of anything that hits you, or anything inside the same nebula as you...

It's irrelevant. Moving right along, Nemessis' link has a pretty decent representation of what a missile sounds like when fired. As for the explosion... well, that shouldn't be hard to find. Pick an action movie, any action movie.

I have a crappy sound card and keep sound effects off.

It's extra realistic but I'm at a disadvantage against bombers.

I played a single player mod so called "itano circus" that mod has some great torpedo , and missile sound/effects. I saw the fellow who made it ...he registered here on forums I don't remember his name. :(

Why485. I downloaded Itano Circus and set the max ammo limit to 70000 for lulz. It's very fun that way, micro missiles there pwn. 8.33 refire missiles, anyone?

Cool , those 8.33 refire missiles ... those missiles could get in game like little weapons that uses ammo and don't make much damage to hull only let say weapons and so ... you can destroy thrusters and other things like that if you fire them on target ...:)it could be nice


i don't really know how are real effects of weapons ... i keep my details on low (only object detail is high because i cant see ships if its low)

Tehre's a reeason ~Itano Circus wasn't on a server anywhere, and that's due to the insane amoutn of lag from the missiles. So those missiles getting in here? Durn think so.

We had that, Swarm missile pod it was called. I bet there was a reason why it was taken from the mod... It was before my time though.

Ahem, please, reality has absolutely no place in this game whatsoever. Planets 80km apart? Hello?

If there's one thing I don't want, its for Freelancer to be more realistic, I mean, where's the fun in that?

Yes true its not realistic but better sounding missiles, torps and mines would go along way for immersion.
