They are both done differently, but those two are just examples; the tip of the iceburg as it were.
If you really want to see many other ways in which you could construct RP, do some digging. Im sure you will find a combination of styles to your liking:D.
Hmm, alright, thanks for the advise. I will make further posts from other points of view. That post will be the last one chronologically. At least from the facility.

"Another popup faction. Great. What's wrong with my popup blocker?" - Denelo
"Oh come on, slow and steady doesn't win any races, fast and steady does."
OOC of course:
The problem with Doom's apparent method of role playing (and I speak as someone with a known bias, as the (acting) faction leader of a lawful group) is that he is inventing fiction to justify carrying out PvP combat AFTER initiating the combat. Or at least he's documenting it after. That's actually banned by server rules. We will always give (it's in our faction rules) unfriendly (but not KOS) units a chance to exit Kusari space to avoid combat, not just because it is good RP for a law enforcement organisation such as the KNF but also because it's a policy that abides by the server regulations. It's always possible Doom writes his story before attacking but KNF forces and allies were caught unaware (yet won - a credit to the skill of those involved as our foe is no beginner). Surprise attacks for no apparent reason or explanation (or where the explanation means nothing to the people receiving it) are an annoyance.
However, credit goes to Doom for documenting his losses where they occur. Lesser people would have glossed over those setbacks.

Somewhat off topic but also somewhat related: Sorry, Doom... You wouldn't have written Goth Poetry in the past? The worst kind of writing known to humanity? Ahem. Maybe there needs to be a fiction writing guide, of which the first rule should be AVOID cliches and hackneyed phrases. 'pitch black', 'cold as steel', 'suddenly' - a useful rule of writing is the word 'suddenly' should be avoided at all costs. Oh, 'at all costs' is a cliche too. Avoiding such phrases is a handy rule of writing everyone will benefit from so Doom shouldn't take it as a personal insult - I mean only as objective criticism with the intent of being constructive. Avoid cliches, pomposity, common grammatical errors, punctuation errors, spelling errors... tend towards writing succinctly rather than using purple prose - in that regard Byron was an expert while you and I aren't. Avoid sounding like a bad Anime cartoon. It's translated from Japanese. As a KNF member I should know how bad the translations are.
As a friend (and for the purposes of explaining the comment, a university tutor) said to me yesterday, in relation to fiction writing, "your first 10 tries are probably going to be crap but after that you'll get better. Perhaps I shouldn't tell that to the thesis students." Probably not.
))))
Its pretty good actually, but from a more analytical rather than enjoyment point of view. There is so much structure and language in it, and you can read into it for an infinite amount of time...:).
I rather like using similies and metaphors to describe things in my story. For me, it makes it easier on the eye. It makes a story less plain and more enjoyable, both in the writing and reading.
I chose to do a biography using none or very few of the techniques, simply because i didn't feel it was necessary. From what i've learn't of Roleplaying, and my particular style, its good to mix plain and simple with complex and hyperbolic language. The opposite of hyperbole, litoses, doesn't really fit with my RP style at all.
Explaining pvp is a simple and yet effective way of writing RP in my opinion. You don't state that you have come for your mate who was captured when you enter a system (for example). If one doesn't put effort into his RP, then by all means, destroy him completely. However, i see Doom putting in alot of effort for his pvp. Its a balance, and i think hes more or less there. In the end, we shouldn't read too much into the reason of RP being constructed.
Nadir don't worry, i wont take any insults or take this the wrong way:). I thank your for your ideas but i have some clarifications for you.
I think that u are reffering on capture of Ouray base "commander" by Kusari naval forces, NPCs, not faction. That is imaginary event and i had no intension of attacking any of KNF faction players during his rescue. Also this story was posted before i entered Kusari space. However, as i know some of KNF members from before i asked if they would participate in my role play. This was only ment to be fun for everybody involved. I look at it as small server event for KNF. If they have refused i would have taken some pictures of prison, killed few npcs (as i did) and left the system. It was completely their choice to participate. I have Xeno tag and KNF faction members would attack me no matter of my roleplay, so i see this and nice try of good role play from both sides.
I am not part of any faction and all my role play is imaginary.. but when i say that i went there to save "commander" i really went there to save him, with or without KNF participation. I easily could stay docked in Colorado and write how i did save him. My role play is in my mind and ment for me only...if i wish to set me a goal or make explanation for my rampage thru sirius that is my right. However if anybody wants to participate in them, even better. When my fighter got blown in California i went and bought another.
That was another imaginary event of well know scenario of "stolen ship"...When my new one got busted by KNF in rescue mission i went there in repair ship to retrieve the wreck. I actually was there.
All other events that are mentioned in my thread are real events that have happened on this server seen thru my eyes - xeno eyes.
Also all of characters that i have mention are "real" characters. They all can be seen in Ouray bar. Xeno history that is on the beginning of my thread is only copy/paste of real Xeno description that u can read on any Xeno base. Xenos are terrorists and are KoS to almost all lawful and unlawful faction on server. If wanted only to PvP why i would write such long texts and edited so many pictures. In my opinion every terrorist needs a reason to attack, they are not mindless killers. So i, with help of KNF members, now have reason to attack KNF.
People would think that role playing a Xeno is easy...u go around and kill people cause u are a terrorist. Xenos are poorest NPC faction in game. With weakest ships and equip (apart great Black widow guns). So i fly in weakest and cheapest GB that i could find (although when u face me in, it doesn't seems weak) and in Crow fighter...not very expensive ship either. All weapons that i use can be bought on xeno or zoner bases. Try to fly thru Sirius when almost every NPC faction except zoners (and sometimes even them) are hostile to you.
And for the end, i never wrote goth poetry. Hell, i don't even know what it is. English isn't my native language. My language isn't in the same family with english language. My english vocabulary isn't big enough to create master pieces or to write by every rule of writhing. It is simply the best translation from my language that i could think of. Most of my knowledge of english comes from movies and playing role play games...in school i learned french...and never used it since..
My full apologies.:$I have been filled in on the details now - I made wrong assumptions.
Good to see someone making an effort at role playing and sharing the results.
Sorry for an unnecessarily critical post from me. The idea is to have a good time, not be part of some super critical writer's club. I'm very well aware of my own shortcomings at writing and English is my first and only language!
