The Iron Sun has a long and very rich tradition. It all started about 5 years after the first Nomad War, while Fleet Admiral Desiderius Unger was the Commander of the 1st Fleet of the Liberty Navy, and made the Enigma to his flagship. At that time there was unrest in many places, and the Liberty Navy was after the hard blow at the war still trying to fight for a stable situation.
Unfortunately, various groups take advantage of this, the then supreme commander of the armed forces. After it had neglected the imperial military machine too, joined together to create a number of officers loyal to a junta and to obtain again a firm military hierarchy. Once the situation became untenable, rose the junta, some ships set sail for Virginia, the headquarters of the 1st Fleet, rebelled against the leadership and demanded the insertion of FAdm Unger as commander of the armed forces.
FAdm Unger was surprised by this request, but accepted the loyalty of the fleet, made sure that the systems continue to be protected with a bandage and took under the leadership of the Enigma course on Manhattan, where he soon became a new chief commander of the armed forces and Grand Admiral of the Liberty Navy . Immediately, he was an advocate to establish a permanent defense Force to protect the Liberty systems that enhance the defense and re-establish the hierarchy. His successor as commander of the 1st Fleet HAdm Neal.
Neal also made the Iron Sun to his flagship, and tried to expand his authority in the sectors of the military presence.
But a few months later, the fate struck again. The committee set up by Leaders of the Libertonian Government tried in jealous delusions of eliminating the highest officers of the fleet when he made them arrested for treason. Unger and Neal were on the Liberty Navy ball both where circled by government loyal Troops discharged after a brief struggle. Outrage spread through the armed forces and immediately took the lead officers of the junta together again to rescue their beloved leader. The Iron Sun, then one of the strongest units, refused to obey the Government, went into hiding undetected and thus placed himself openly on the side of the junta. Nothing and no one should use this ship for low purposes.
The second rebellion of the junta succeeded, though he claimed many victims and thanks to the madness of the Government went very bloody. HAdm Unger and Neal were freed and were able to capture the leader of the Government. After the final battle actions were stopped, Unger stood against the deposed Leader, and led his execution.
Rearrangements took place in the re-consolidating Liberty Navy. HAdm Neal became the new chief commander of the armed forces, FAdm Casston flag officer and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Iron Sun.
After Liberty had now reached a stable peace, prepared in front of greater battle. FAdm Casston traveled with the Iron Sun to the most important military bases, boosted the morale of the armed forces and prepared prior to their ultimate use. But then HAdm Neal disappeared without a trace during an inspection tour near the outer regions of Liberty space. FAdm Casston did not hesitate a moment to put a crew together of the best officers and began with the persecution with the Iron Sun. It did not last long as The Order was identified as the hijackers and the flagship of The Order was appointed.
But unfortunately it turned into one of the darkest hours of the Fleet. In the Battle of the both Capitals ships the Iron Sun was, because of the more advanced technology of the Order Flaggship, heavily damaged and had to be evacuated. After the Escape Pods drifted away from the ship and the Order flaggship retreated the hulk drifted through the Alaska system and took even more heavier damage because of its collisions with some of the Asteroids in the System. Years after that battle a Order Patrol found the ship in the far edge of the system. Slowly they closed in to the Hulk and after they made their round around the Ship they could read the Name of the ship: Iron Sun. They returned back to their Home system and reported their found to the High Command. There the decision was made, to recover the ship and put it back in Action on Order side. Because of the heavy damage the ship was to 80% rebuild and modified to handle Order Technology.
